Rich finale for IMCA Lone Star Series July 3 at Texas Thunder

KILLEEN, Texas (June 29) – Local sponsors have upped the stakes for the Sunday, July 3 IMCA Lone Star Series finale at Texas Thunder Speedway.
IMCA Modifieds will now race for $1,850 to win. That share of the purse was previously advertised at $1,000 and promoter David Goode reported a steady influx of calls from across Texas, New Mexico and Arizona as the to-win total crept up for the 2012 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot qualifier.
Smiley’s Racing Chassis Southern SportMods race for a $1,045 top check. The IMCA Sunoco Stock Car feature pays $745 to win and the IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock feature pays $495 to win.
All applicable IMCA points, including local track points, will be awarded.
Just one point separates Tom Earl Jr. and Bradley Poor in the Southern SportMods standings heading into the last show while Keith White has a two point edge over Jeff Turner in the Stock Car portion of the series.
Allen Montgomery leads David Bissonnette by 10 points heading into the final Hobby Stock event. White has the most breathing room in the Modified ranks, where he owns a 23 point advantage over Gabe Tucker.
Pit gates and the grandstand both open at 5 p.m. at Killeen. Hot laps follow the 7:20 p.m. drivers’ meeting and racing begins at 8 p.m.
Grandstand admission is $12 for adults, $5 for kids ages 6-12 and free for youngsters five and under. Pit passes are $25.

A $3,000 point fund is in place for the Modifieds and includes a $600 share for the champion.
Furnishing $1,000 point funds are WCH Engines for the I-Stocks, HDC Race Cars and Fabrication for the Hobbies and Southwest Racing Specialties for the Southern SportMods. Each of those champions earns $250.
Series champions also become eligible to compete in their respective race of champions during the IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals fueled by Cenex or the Southern SportMod Nationals.
