Four USMTS Hunt for the National Championship Races Up Next

Happy, Texas (08/20/19) – Rodney Sanders batted 50% over the extended racing weekend. In four USMTS Hunt for the Casey’s Cup events he claimed two wins in his Wichita Tank Racing No. 20 Kenny’s Tile/ ARMI Contractors/ MB Customs/ Hatfield Racing Engine Modified.

With the wins Sanders now has 12 wins on the season and has increased his United States Modified Touring Series (USMTS), career-win total to 94.

“It was a really hot weekend, but our team dug deep and had some really good runs. It was especially cool to get our first USMTS, sanctioned win at the Salina Highbanks,” the 29-year-old Sanders noted. “Dereck [Ramirez] has a lot of speed and is consistently finishing at the front of the pack, so we know that if we are going to get our third championship that we can’t relax at all. Hopefully, we can go out and get at least two more wins this coming weekend.”

Rodney Sanders traveled to I-35 Speedway (Winston, Missouri) on Wednesday evening as he kicked off a four-day stretch with the United States Modified Touring Series (USMTS). Drawing 27 cars for the 10th annual Missouri Meltdown, Rodney raced to a runner-up finish in his heat race.

Starting the main event in fifth, Sanders overtook Hunter Marriott for the lead on lap 31 and went on to pick up his 11th win of the season over Marriott, Terry Phillips, Zack VanderBeek, and Dereck Ramirez. He claimed a $2,500 payday for his triumphant efforts.

On Thursday evening at Dallas County Speedway (Urbana, Missouri), for the inaugural Bullring Bash, Sanders gained two spots in his heat to place fourth. Starting the $2,500-to-win A-Main in the 10th position, Rodney improved six positions to register a fourth-place finish behind Ryan Gustin, Dereck Ramirez, and Hunter Marriott.

The following night at Lake Ozark Speedway (Eldon, Missouri), Sanders locked his spot into the show with a runner-up performance in his heat race. Rolling off sixth on the feature grid, Rodney ran in the Top 10 throughout the finale before crossing the finish line in the sixth slot.

On Saturday evening Rodney wrapped up an ultra-busy weekend with a stop at Salina Highbanks Speedway (Pryor Creek, Oklahoma) as the seventh annual ARMI Salute to Our Veterans came to life. Passing seven cars in his heat, Sanders landed a runner-up finish, which positioned him seventh on the starting grid for the finale.

Overtaking Dereck Ramirez for the lead on lap 23, Rodney Sanders went on to pick up his 12th win of the season and a $3,100 payday. Ramirez, Hunter Marriott, Tyler Wolff, and Ryan Gustin trailed him to the checkers in the 35-lap affair.

Rodney continues to lead both the latest USMTS national point standings and the Casey’s Hunt standings. For more results from these events, please visit www.USMTS.com .
