Double Duty Slated for Mark Rogers Memorial

Happy, Texas (10/15/19) – Mark it down as another victory for the driver, known as “the Rocket.” The Texas racer drove his Wichita Tank Racing No. 20 Kenny’s Tile/ ARMI Contractors/ MB Customs/ Hatfield Racing Engine Modified to the $2,000 win in Sunday’s evening’s finale at the Oklahoma oval.

The victory marked his 16th of the 2019 season.

“We had a great weekend at Longdale. It was pretty hectic competing in two divisions, but my crew did a great job of giving me great cars in both divisions,” Sanders said. “I’m looking forward to getting back to Amarillo this coming weekend. I have a lot of good memories at that place, and it’ll be fun to race in two divisions for the second-straight week.”

Saturday night found Rodney Sanders in action at Longdale Speedway (Longdale, Oklahoma), where he was pulling double duty during the two-day Winter Nationals. In a field of 21 Modifieds, Sanders gained three spots in his 10-lap heat race to place second behind Cole Traugott. Earning the third-starting position for the opening night feature, Rodney advanced one position to record a runner-up finish behind Dereck Ramirez with R.C. Whitwell, Cole Traugott, and Jason Hughes rounding out the Top-5.

In the No. 3D B-Mod, Rodney followed up a third-place finish in his heat with a seventh-place finish in the main event.

With his spot already locked into the Winter Nationals Modified finale on Sunday afternoon, Sanders held off Dereck Ramirez in the 30-lap affair to capture his 16th win of the season and a $2,000 payday. Ramirez, Jason Hughes, Cole Traugott, and Kenny Wallace completed the Top-5 finishers.

Starting the B-Mod finale in the fourth position on Sunday, Rodney jumped up two spots to place second behind Robert Elliott with Cole Traugott, Mike Roach, and Brandon Kenny trailing them to the checkers.
