Springfield, Illinois Roger Brickler visited victory lane this evening at MACON SPEEDWAY after doing a burnout reminiscent of any NEXTEL Cup win. After a number of close calls at the little track that could, but always succumbing to some bad luck, Brickler made it the entire 25 laps tonight and got his name etched in the record books as a feature victor in the 60th Anniversary year at the Midwest speedplant!

Upon exiting the car in victory lane, Brickler took some ribbing from the track announcer, goading him to do a Carl Edwards patented backflip. Brickler who is nearly 7 foot tall climbed atop the door of his car, but thought better of attempting the move! :)

In his first ever visit to victory lane for a UMP feature win, Brickler bested Jayme Zidar, Mike Mudd, Eric Smith, Chad Pratt, Jason Cleaver, Earl Smith, Adam Mefford and Kenny VanDorn for the feature victory.

Fast time was turned in by Corey Daugherty with a lap time of 11.472.

Heat races were won by Zidar over Daugherty, Mudd, Brickler, Butch Smith, Cleaver and Eric Smith. Pratt over Earl Smith, Mefford, Randy Myers and VanDorn.

The dash was topped by Brickler over Mudd, Butch Smith, Daugherty, Cleaver and Eric Smith.

Jeff Leka continued his winning ways of the previous evening at Farmer City Raceway by claiming the UMP modified event over Jim Leka with a pass in the closing laps.

Sportsman action was Scott Landers going to victory lane for his first feature win of the season.

Street stock action was topped by Larry Russell, making it a twofer thus far in the young season after also claiming the win in last weeks season opener.

All in all a nice night at the races with all of the features being concluded by 10:05. Hats off to speedway management for running a timely event and a hearty CONGRATULATIONS to Roger Brickler and his entire team on a well deserved feature win! The first one is always the hardest to get. Look out as they should come easier now!
