Roney returns to victory lane at Doe Run Raceway

DOE RUN, MO--(September 11, 2005) Tony Roney returned to victory lane in the 600cc multi class this past Friday night at Doe Run Raceway. Roney, who started the race front row outside had plenty of competition, with 2005 Multi class champion Joey Boyd on his inside and Casey Barnhouse and Jimmy Bridgeman lined up directly behind him.

Roney jumped out in front at the green flag to lead all 20 laps of the main event. Boyd had to settle for second, Dustin Barks third, Barnhouse fourth and Bridgeman fifth. Boyd won the first heat, Barnhouse second and Ronnie Slade third. Zack Daum finished second to Roney in the second heat, Barks third. Bridgeman won the third heat, Mark Shirshekan second and Nathan Faenger third.

2005 Mini Stock track champion Shannon Burch and Marty Boyer put on quite a show for the fans during the Mini Stock feature race with Boyer leading 13 of the 15 laps. Burch made his move on the white flag lap and led the last two, earning another feature win for the #8 crew. Boyer finished second, Dave Wofford third, Brian Cox fourth and Ronnie Moser fifth. Cox won the first heat, CJ Wright second and Butch Hartman third. Boyer won the second heat, Burch second and Bill Nickelson third.

2005 Dwarf car track champion Bill Beard drove his #35 to another victory. Chris Hayes jumped out in front at the green, leading the first 3 laps until being passed by Beard. Hayes had to settle for second, Billy Craig third, Matt Dotson fourth and Brad Paquet fifth. Dotson won the first heat, Paquet second and Billy Joe Beard third. Hayes won the second heat, Bill Beard second and Craig third.

Andrew Cash earned his second victory in as many weeks in the Stock Kart feature event. Scottie Gretzmacher finished second, 2005 Stock Kart track champion Braydon Wright third, Jesse Wright fourth and Landon Barks fifth. Gretzmacher won the heat race, Jesse Wright second and Cash third.

Racing will resume Friday, September 16th with a special event for the Stock Kart class. Other classes participating will be the 600cc Multi, Mini Stock and Dwarf Cars. Gates open at 6:00 p.m., practice begins at 7:30 p.m., racing begins at 8:00 p.m. General admission tickets are $6, pit admission $25.00.
