2008 O’Reilly POWRi National Midget Series Rookie of the Year contender, Daniel Robinson of Wayne City, IL, lead all 30 laps of the O’Reilly POWRi presented by Lucas Oil Midget Series Knowles Memorial midget race at Spoon River Speedway in Canton, IL. Robinson would start on the pole and jump to an early lead while outside front row starter, Brad Loyet would battle with Brett Anderson and Ryan Criswell. Multiple yellows would bunch up the field only to have Robinson pull ahead without any serious threats on each re-start. Loyet, Anderson and Criswell would do battle all race long with Criswell finally passing Loyet on the last lap for second with Anderson and Nick Knepper rounding out the top five. This is the first national midget win for Robinson who was the 2005 O’Reilly POWRi 600cc Micro Sprint Champion driving the Peoples National Bank Spike/Sesco Mopar midget. The O’Reilly POWRi National Midgets and Micro’s will head to Morgan County Speedway in Jacksonville, IL next Friday Oct. 3rd and Belle-Clair Speedway in Belleville, IL Oct. 4th for the “Charlene Meents Memorial”.
