FREDERICKTOWN, Mo. -- (June 27, 2003) Kenny Rumble pulled one out of his hat to catch and pass Brent Kreke at the wire to win the UMP Late Model feature at the Fredericktown Raceway Friday night.

With just three laps remaining in the 25-lap feature, Rumble trailed both Kreke and Mike Hammerle. The trio had dueled for most of the event, but neither Hammerle or Rumble appeared to have what it took to over-take Kreke. But Rumble would not be denied on this night as he took his act to the outside edge of the track. First he made the pass of Hammerle to pull into second place and when the white flag flew he was breathing down Kreke's neck.

Then on the race's final turn Rumble turned on the after-burners, turned the corner around Kreke and beat him by just a few feet at the finish line to earn his second consecutive victory at Fredericktown.

Jumping out of his car following the victory he was met by Kreke and his father (Al) to shake his hand and congratulate him on the victory.

"You never like to lose, but when you lose to somebody like him (Rumble) who ran such a good, clean race, you just have to give the man his dues," Al Kreke said. "He really ran a great race."
Hammerle settled for a hard-fought third place finish with Mike Abney fourth and Tommy Worley Sr. (driving Ronnie Jarrell's #78 car) finished in fifth place. They were followed by Charlie Savage, John Bohn, Brian Parsons, Chris Jones and Andy Pryor.

Kreke won the first heat race with Bohn second and Worley third. Pryor won the second heat with Hammerle second and Jim Morrison third. Kreke won the dash with Pryor second and Hammerle third.

In the Modified class, Joe Giesler held off the hard-challenge of Brent Thompson to pick up the feature win. Danny Resinger captured third place with Tommy Worley Sr. fourth and Dean Resinger fifth. They were followed by Scott Carron, Nick Werner, Steve Smith (from Alabama), Mike Crader and Greg Skaggs.
Crader won the first heat with Worley second and Dean Resinger third. Giesler won the second heat with Thompson second and Danny Resinger third. Giesler won the dash with Thompson second and Crader third.

Rick Ruch of Perryville was a triple crown winner in the RAMS Mini Stock class (winning his heat, the dash and the feature). In the feature Dave "The Wolf" Wofford chased Ruch in and out of traffic for the entire 15 laps of the feature, but he could never pass him for the lead. Kenny Harris (driving the #17 of Jathon Cruse) finished in third place with Bill Nickelson fourth and Jon Paul Reando fifth. They were followed by Rusty Voyles, Brian Cox, Shannon Burch, Kevin Buckley and Mike Henderson.

Ruch won the first heat race with Wofford second and Harris third. Reando won his first-ever RAMS race by winning the second heat while Nickelson finished second and Cox third. Ruch won the dash with Wofford second and Reando third.

In the Pure Street class, Pete Koenig was the feature winner with Theran Pearl second, Dustin Homan third, Lenny Terrell fourth and Brad Thurston fifth. They were followed by Derek DeSpain, Chris Webb, Dewayne Tilk and Bill Kinney.

Koenig won the first heat with Terrell second and Tilk third. Pearl won the second heat with Webb second and Homan third. Pearl won the dash with Koenig second and Terrell third.
There will be no racing at the Fredericktown Raceway on Friday, July 4. The next scheduled race is on July 11th. For more information on the raceway visit: www.fredericktownraceway.com
