CLEVELAND, Tenn. (4/2/2012) -- The new Cleveland (TN) Speedway is readying for the 17th edition of the annual SHAMROCK, Southern All-Star sanctioned event, this Saturday night, April 7th. An array of Super Late Model racings heavy hitters from around the South are expected as fans prepare to make the trip, for this big event, that pays $10,000 to the winner. The annual Spring time event has brought the best of the best to the track since 1994 when Ringgold, Georgia's Rex Richey took the checkers. As for most wins, Scott Bloomquist has the most SHAMROCK's in his trophy room. The Mooresburg, TN, racing superstar has three victories, which is one more than Batesville, Arkansas' Billy Moyer, Dale McDowell and Duayne Hommel. The only local Super Late Model racer to ever claim a SHAMROCK title was Ricky Holland in 2000, when the Georgetown, Tennesseeian held off McDowell for his biggest career victory.

The who's who list of racers that are expected to be in action at Cleveland Speedway includes the three time SHAMROCK champion Bloomquist as well as reigning Lucas Oil series National Champion Jimmy Owens of Newport, TN, who's a multi-Cleveland Speedway S.A.S. winner, that has never won Cleveland's Spring-time Opener. Ray Cook of Brasstown, NC whom picked up the $5,000 checkers at November's GOBBLER at Cleveland last year, should be in contention as should Cleveland's #1-son Dale McDowell of Chickamagua, GA. and the 2007 SHAMROCK winner Chris Madden of Gaffney, SC. As for regional S.A.S SLM racers looking to take the $10,000 prize, reigning series champion Billy Ogle Jr. is likely along with Crossville's Randy Weaver. Local favorite Skip Arp of nearby Georgetown plus racers such as; Mike Weeks, Riley Hickman and former two-time track champion Todd Morrow will likely be vying for the top prize this Saturday.

Cleveland Speedway is less than 20-miles North of Chattanooga, Tennessee, off I-75 in the town of Cleveland, TN. Along with the S.A.S. race, the Cleveland Speedway; LLM/Crate, A & B Hobby, divisions will all be in competition. Gates open for the April 7th SHAMROCK event at 2PM EST with grandstands at 3PM. Drivers meeting is scheduled for 5:30PM and hot lap practice at 6:30PM. For more details call the track at (423)479-8574, or visit the on-line web-site at www.clevelandspeedway.net.
