Tucson, Az. (July 10, 2011) - In spite of the clouds' continued efforts in altering their plans, local race fans headed to Tucson's home of extreme family fun, USA Raceway. With the lightning filled skies darkening only as the afternoon came and went, track officials prepared for a day long battle with Mother Nature herself.

Fully aware of the rain riddled evidence all over town, long time track prep professor Tom Campbell could only wait and watch from the cab of his John Deere motor grader, hoping for a few minutes of clarity to repair the mess left by nearly a dozen different episodes of rainfall on the 3/8 mile clay oval.

While trucks, trailers, and racecars filed into the muddy Tucson pit area, the team of USA Raceway officials worked nonstop, seemingly impervious to the rain pouring down around them. As hope dwindled, 6 o'clock arrived in true Tucson fashion; with a big ball of sunshine that sent the rain filled clouds packing for good.

While the trucks, trailers, and racecars filed into the muddy Tucson pit area, the team of USA Raceway officials worked nonstop as to make one wonder if they couldn't see or feel the raindrops falling all around them. Just as the Tucson natives have become accustomed to, 6 o'clock arrived with a big ball of sunshine in tow and sent the rain filled clouds packing for good this time.

The Unifirst Super Stocks & USA Factory Stocks both checked in with 20 cars and competitors alike from all over the state of Arizona. The battle for the Super Stock State Championship & the USA Track Championship would heat up both on the track and off just after the checker dropped for the current USA point leader and eventual race winner Terry Hill. Hill led the field from the green flag to the caution free checker on lap 20. Marty Hussack came home second with multiple battle wounds glaring from his all new Tucson built racecar as a result from the race long wrestling match with third place driver Daniel Stricker. Brian Brown and Dana Boatwright finished the top 5 finishing order.

The USRA Modifieds checked in with 18 drivers on the heat race grid but lost a couple before main event time. Heat race action was topped by Stormy Scott after a door to door battle with USA point leader Chad Ayers. Mike Brandon made himself seen as he beat the Coolidge gas man of Brian Schultz to the line in the second heat race. As the main event lined up nose to tail or bumper to bumper, racers as well as all in attendance knew the guy to beat on this Saturday night sat in the black #2 car all the way from Las Cruces, NM. Former Central Arizona Raceway Modified Champion Robert Adams would join the fight for home field by making his first start of 2011, along with young gun and current point runner up Cody Alverez. After 25 laps of a near perfect performance, the road warrior Stormy Scott would take the checker flag, the trophy, and the check ahead of the Tucson quartet of Cody Alverez (06), Robert Adams (50), Chad Ayers (3d), and Dana Fite (40).

Factory Stock point leader Terry Churchwell extended his lead by taking home the main event win ahead of 2nd place finisher Dylan Newberg, 3rd of Heath Mceuen, 4th of Jason Pugliese, and 5th of George Lein.

The Hornets saw a new and much deserving winner when the #34 PJ Harro captured his first main event win of his young career. The RWD Hornet veteran driver of Paul Norris would add another win to his resume as well.

Racing resumes this Saturday night, July 16th with the return of the ASCS Wing Sprint Cars along with the Super Stocks, X-Mods, and the Western State Stock Car Series. General admission tickets will go on sale at 4pm for just $15 for Adults. $12 for Seniors, Students and Military, and all kids 11 & under are absolutely FREE! VIP Suite Access Passes will also be available on a first come, first serve basis for just an additional five bucks! That makes the best view in the Southwest more affordable than ever but don't wont too long! Enjoy the races in luxury while not missing a minute of the action.
