DOE RUN, MO--(June 22, 2007) Chris Scott was all smiles as he climbed out of his 600cc Multi after the feature event this past evening at the Raceway after fulfilling the dream of every racer who has ever strapped into a racecar, winning their first feature event.
Scott started the race from the second row inside and was running in the third position behind Jimmy Bridgeman and Brian Keen when the two lead cars got tangled together on the fifth lap with Keen retiring his car to the pit area after the incident and Bridgeman heading to the rear of the field. Scott then took the lead and never looked back, leading the remainder of the 20 lap race. HRE Racing finished in the second spot, Eric Ziegler third, Lynda Blanke fourth and Jeff Wurst fifth.
Bridgeman won the first heat followed by Scott and Blanke. Keen won the second heat, Wurst second and Mark Shirshekan third.
In the Stock Kart class, Andrew Cash won the battle, leading the field across the line to earn another feature win. Scottie Gretzmacher finished second, Jessie Wright third, Lee Stuppy fourth and Carson Heady fifth. Wright won the heat race, Cash second and Gretzmacher third.
Joey Gilliam was a two time winner in the always exciting hornet division. Jeff Straughn finished second behind Gilliam in both events.
In the Mini Stock class, Ronnie Moser and Shannon Burch started the main event side by side on the front row. At the green, Moser jumped out in front and looked to be well on his way to another win, leading the first 11 laps of the 15 lap event. On lap 11 Moser developed mechanical difficulties which opened up the lead spot for Shannon Burch. Burch took the lead on lap 12 and held off CJ Wright for the win. Moser had to settle for third, Steve Wright fourth and Megan Bell fifth. Moser won the heat race, Burch second and CJ Wright third.
Josh Worrell won both the heat race and the feature event in the 305 Limited Sprint Car class. Tom Harris finished second to Worrell in the main, Kermit Schrum third. In the heat race it was Schrum in second and Harris in third.
