(Bright, IN) “The Silver Shark” Scott James competed in the annual Dream 100 held at Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, OH this past weekend. The action was set to kick off on Friday night with qualifications, but was postponed until Saturday afternoon because of persistent rain. When qualifying action did get under way, Scott posted a disappointing first round lap because of a wrong tire selection. He rebounded in the second round of qualifying, as he was only one of a couple of drivers that posted a better second round lap on the famous ½-mile, high-banked oval in west-central Ohio.

Scott started his heat race from the fourth row and was able to make the $100,000 to win, 100-lap feature event by virtue of finishing second in the 15-lap affair. The Baylor Trucking / Powell Motorsports #83 BRC Lazer G-2 Monte Carlo rolled off tenth in the main event and would stay up there the entire event. Scott raced hard throughout the caution-free Dream 100 and ended up posting a fifth place finish. That was Scott’s best run ever in a Dream 100 event and gave him the Eldora Speedway point lead. “The Silver Shark” now leads both the Battle of the Bluegrass Series point standings and the Big E Club point standings.

“We were pretty good all day,” said Scott after the race in the pit area. “We just missed on tires in qualifying and that made us pass some cars to get into the feature, but this Lazer G-2 is just so consistently fast. I wish the track wouldn’t have rubbered-up there because we were actually ahead of Francis and Moyer there and I think we could have possibly gained a couple more positions. We will take another Top Five at Eldora (this makes 3 Top Fives in 3 appearances this year) and hope for better later on in the year at the World 100.”

Scott James Motorsports will be back in action this weekend, as he will compete in a $3,000 to win Battle of the Bluegrass Series event at Bluegrass Speedway in Bardstown, KY on Saturday night. Scott is also tentatively planning on racing car builder Jim Bernheisel’s #119 car at both I-79 Speedway in Shinnston, WV on Friday night and at West Virginia Motor Speedway in Mineral Wells, WV on Sunday. Both of those races are Renegade DirtCar Series events and will pay $5,000 to the winner. “We are planning on doing that deal with Jim this Friday and Sunday, but this is racing and anything can change between now and then,” said Scott.
