BONNE TERRE, Mo. -- (April 22, 2006) Despite having the tower destroyed in a storm just a few weeks prior, the 2006 season opener at Big River Sand Drags opened on time and in style. A new registration/operations building is now in place and there were very few problems during the night. Mother Nature wanted to remind everyone she was still around though as she washed away some of the top eliminator races.
"All in all we were thrilled with everything," said BRSD owner Jason Waller. "Now we can concentrate on some of the smaller details we need to address."
Here are the opening night results:
In Junior ATV, Desiree' Patterson/Conway of Leadwood was the top eliminator and first place winner while Andrew Zack of High Ridge finished in second place.
In ATV-1, Tom McCall of Cedar Hill captured first place, but second place winner Allie Glatczak of Potosi won the top eliminator race.
In Pro ATV, Jimmy Farris of Potosi was the first place winner with Allie Glatczak of Potosi taking second. (Top eliminator race rained out)
In Super Pro ATV, Chrissy Wamsganz of DeSoto was the first place winner with Art Gordon of Barnhardt taking second place. (Top eliminator race rained out)
In Competition Eliminator, Todd Dee of Leadwood won first place with Brenda Smith of Mineral Point was second. (Top eliminator race rained out)
In Stock Buggy, Cody Sellars of Arnold finished first with Vernon Henson Sr. of Valles Mines second. (Top eliminator race rained out)
In Vehicle ET, Philip Beaird of St. Louis was the first place winner, but second place winner Gladys Edwards of Bonne Terre won the top eliminator race.
