Granite City, IL – Tom Seets once again swept the NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series Late Model card Saturday, winning his qualifier and Tri-City Speedway’s “Truckville Night” feature by a full straightaway margin. The win was Seets’ ninth in 10 starts.
A thrilling first lap saw Keith Flannery lead the pack into turn one, Terry McClintock take it away down the backstretch, and finally Seets flashing across the stripe for the lead. Once Seets saw clear track in front of him he was never headed.
Chasing him to the checkers were McClintock, Pat Ryan, Flannery and Tommie Seets, Jr. McClintock took the second qualifier.
Terry Chester raced to his fifth ShorTrack Series Sportsman main win, topping Bubb Mitchell, Bert Jacoby, Chad Naylor and Gary Walker. The race of the night was turned in by Jacoby, who, through a series of caution flags, was forced to race from the back of the pack to the front three times before finally capturing the show position. Mitchell and Chester took the qualifiers.
Brett Anderson showed no wings were necessary, winning the 600cc Micro Sprint “Topless Shootout” for his second win of the season. Sans top and nose wings, Anderson was chased hard by Tri-City points leader Tom Ritter and Kent Buck, but neither could draw within five lengths of the leader. The qualifiers went to Anderson and Jason Howe.
Brad Gilleland crossed the line first in a crazed Street Stock feature that saw numerous spins and crashes, but a post race inspection negated his win and moved Randy Bramen up to the win column. David Parker and Steve Stonecipher rounded out the top three. Robbie Benson and Rick Huebner won the heats.
B.J. Seets fought his way to front and won his second Modified headliner of the season, besting Joe Dresch and Bob Stanton. The qualifiers fell to Dresch and Stanton.
Josh Porch raced to his second Factory Stock win over Ralph Bradford and Todd Erickson. Porch, Dan Wait and Bradford won the qualifiers.
