Father-and-Son Duo Look Ahead to Continued Growth in 2019

Dyersburg, Tennessee (01/04/19) – The 2018 season was a bit different than the norm for veteran racer, Preston Seratt. The chauffer of the J&P Machine & Repair #29 KSE Racing Products Street Stock only entered a handful of races.

While he competed in less than half dozen events, the Tennessee racer still enjoyed a productive year.

“A big chunk of my time was spent building a new house, which incidentally is the most time consuming endeavor I’ve ever tackled,” Seratt laughed. “Conversely, when we weren’t working on the house, we spent most of our time at the Go-Kart track with my son Lane. He definitely carried the banner for the family this season with 19 feature wins. I enjoy racing, but there’s simply nothing that compares to seeing your son developing a love for it.”

Preston’s limited schedule found him entering five crown jewel events with the Durrence Layne Street Stock Series. He accumulated three fast-time awards, three heat-race wins, a trio of runner-up finishes, a third-place effort, and a single DNF.

“I know that I wouldn’t get to race much this year, so before the year began, we decided that we’d just focus on big races,” Seratt revealed. “Honestly, for no more than we raced we were pretty damn good. We led almost every lap that we were on the track, and in three of the races, cautions bit us with just three laps to go. Even though we fell short of the wins, I was still pleased with the season.”

Meanwhile, Preston’s 7-year-old son, Lane Seratt enjoyed a breakout season in 2018. He had 19 wins to go along with multiple pole awards.

“I think it’s fair to say that Lane has all of the driving talent in the family,” Preston said with a big smile. “He’s progressing really well, and most importantly he’s having fun. We traveled a lot with his program and raced as much as we could this past season.

“I’d really like to thank Joe Warren with CRP Race Products for all of his help this year. We really couldn’t have had this success without his expertise and time. It’s been greatly appreciated.”

For the 2019 campaign, Preston plans to continue competing in his Trak-Star Street Stock.

“I really like working with Mike Boland on the Trak-Star Race Cars. They are solid pieces, and we’ve been able to work hand-in-hand with him to make more advances. I’ll probably run six-to-eight Durrence Layne Street Stock Series events this year, and then maybe another race or two. My prime focus will continue to be on developing Lane’s program. We plan to race almost weekly with the Go-Kart this year and venture out to more big-paying shows. Our top priority for 2019 is to evolve our Go-Kart program further.”

Last, but not least Preston Seratt would like to thank everyone, who has supported and continues to support his team’s program.

“First and foremost, I want to thank my dad (Jim) as he makes all of this possible. I want to also thank Trak-Star Race Cars, Ashley Newman at Newman Fab and Shocks along with Christian at D.S.I. Performance

“Also, I can’t say enough about Dan and everyone at KSE Racing Products. They’ve supported me my whole racing career, and we are currently testing some new Street Stock steering products with them. DC Electric, Wiles Driveshafts, Xtreme Race Graphics, Dirt Defender, and McArmour Enterprises all go out of their way to support my program as well. All of these guys truly have the best products available.
