Farmington, MO – (September 12) -- Action was at the top of the pile on Saturday evening at St Francois County Raceway. Rainouts of the prior weeks feature event were part of the card. In addition to the make up events, the B-Mods were on hand for their last visit of 2009. Saturday was also the last $5.00 grandstand night for the year

The night was loaded from the start with great racing. Show Me Rent To Own, the featured sponsor of the night, came prepared with their staff and gave away a new DVD player.

Tommy Worley, Jr, made it five in a row as he destroyed the field in the Sprint Division feature. Kent Buckley would take the lead on the start with Joey Montgomery and Worley in chase. Worley found an opening to get around Montgomery in turn three. Once clearing Montgomery the chase to the front was on. Within a few laps Worley made the pass and the race at this juncture was “his to lose.” His car owner Dr. Christopher Sloan was on hand in the Winners Circle and told the crowd of future plans for his team. Worley was chased to the finish by Joey Montgomery, opening night winner Casey Barnhouse, Tim Montgomery and pole setter and dash winner Kent Buckley.

Modified division found a familiar face in the circle. Brent Thompson, the defending champion at SFCR, had his work cut out for him during the feature. Not only did he outrace the competition. He also outraced a slight illness. By winning his fifth feature of the season, Thompson closed the gap between himself and current points leader David Shepard. Next week is the final points race for 2009 and the Modifieds will be making up their feature from September 5th. Championship racing will be at a premium next Saturday.

Thompson had to deal with early leader Matt Eaton. Eaton looked as if he had the car to beat, but mechanical failures cashed him in later in the event. Driving with a broke tie rod, Eaton battled for position with Jeremy Greenwalt, Billy Smith and Kent Nations. Thompson then had his hands full with his rival Billy Smith and points leader David Shepard. Taking whatever line was necessary, these three put on a show for the fans. Thompson again was the winner, Smith finished second, Shepard claimed third, Jeremy Greenwalt fourth and Kent Nations completes the top five.

The B-Mods were in the house for the final time in 2009 and Brad McKennon took the honors by besting Brian Richards. McKennon worked the low side of the oval real estate, while Richard took it upstairs. Richards had the power to pull up alongside down the straight, but fade in the corners. These two raced this way for most of the distance. McKennon claimed the win, followed by Richards, Kenny Harris takes third place honors, Chad Despain ran fourth and former winner Randy Forster completes the top five.

One of the two classes running their make-up feature, the 600 cc Multi division found JoeB Miller taking a pair of wins. What set up to be a great race in the first feature went south early. 2009 Doe Run track champion, Garrett Worley, lost a motor. Worley started outside the front row. After Worley’s turn of events it was all Miller. Dave Chilton, finished second, third went to Brian Keen, fourth to Lynda Blanke and fifth to Kyle Amerson.

Second feature for the 600’s as mentioned before JoeB Miller was dominate. After racing into turn one with Kyle Amerson side by side. Amerson got the jump for a short time. Miller went around on a restart and said good bye to the field. Amerson finished second, Linda Blanke finished third, Jimmy Bridgeman claimed fourth and Jason Cooper takes fifth.

In the post race interview Miller told the crowd he and his team were heading to Little Rock for the 600 Nationals. After have a great couple of weeks now is the time. Miller claimed wins at Macon Speedway and Jacksonville Raceway in POWri competition and followed it up by winning twice here at SFCR.

Pure Street Division also had a make up feature from September 5th. Charlie Savage, Annapolis, MO, got himself another win the Dom Wadlow owned Machine. Savaged raced door to door with Chris Boyd, Eddie Gross, Mike Savage, and Brian Blair. That is the way the finish turned out. These same driver, now had to get ready for the regular portion of the show.

Second feature found little interruptions as the green flag fell. The only caution came out for Robbie Wells and Shane Blair as they tangled on the front straight. Point Leader Brian Blair and Eddie Gross jumped out in front of Eric Sarakas, Mike Savage and Chris Boyd. Blair would hold off Gross, Chris Boyd, Mike Savage, and Jimmy Farris for the win.

Action next week will pick up the make up features for the Sprint and Modified Division. Tickets are $10 for the main grandstand and $25 for pit passes. Gates open at 4:00. Racing will begin around 6:30 to accommodate the make up events.
