CAMARGO, IL – Race fans are eagerly anticipating the 2003 season opener for the All Star Circuit of Champions presented by Haulmark Race Trailers. Debuting at Volusia Speedway Park in Barberville Florida on Thursday Feb. 6 will be three new car and driver combinations which will make things very interesting this season.
Sport Allen, a veteran Florida racer from St. Petersburg, will run for the 2003 All Star Rookie of the Year title in the Guy Webb Racing No. 51. Allen is a two-time East Bay Raceway Park track champion and the technical editor of Sprint Car and Midget magazine. Indiana’s Paul McMahan, winner of the Hoosier Fall Classic in Lawrenceburg, IN last season, will debut the Miler Rigging No. 2 at Volusia. The Miller team is based out of
Findlay, OH. Another new driver combo is Brian Brown from the Show Me state debuting the Lonnie Parsons No. 6. Finally, another almost-new team will be gunning for the All Star championship in 2003 with Wooster, Ohio’s Dean Jacobs
aboard the Pullins Motorsports No. 29. This team joined up in spectacular fashion at the final All Star show of ’02 at Florence (KY) Speedway.
Volusia will be in action with the All Stars on the track for four consecutive nights, Feb. 6-7-8-9. A full program of time trials, heats, consolation events and a championship feature will be presented each night with Sunday night’s final lined up by points accumulated in the first three nights rather than time trials.
Other pre-entries for the four race shootout include drivers from
nine states and Canada. The strong Ohio contingent includes K-C Raceway owner-promoter Jim Nier, veteran Ed Neumeister, All Star champion Chad Kemenah, regular campaigner Barry Ruble, Greg “The Kid” Wilson, Sharon Speedway promoter Dale Blaney and All Star regular Bruce Robenalt.
Indiana is represented by Randy Hannigan, Tom Busch, Kelly Kinser and 2002 All Star Rookie of the Year Bill Rose. The Pennsylvania contingent includes Kevin Frey, Ed Lynch, Jr., Tri-City Speedway track champion Rod George, Mike Erdley, Greg Hodnett, Brent Matus, 2002 Volusia winner Lance Dewease and Fred Rahmer.
Shane Stewart (OK), Ryan Coniam (Canada), Jason Johnson (LA), Larry Lapoint (CO) and the leading All Star winner in 2002 Jeff Shepard (MD) have also filed pre-entries. Many other drivers will be on hand as entries are arriving in the mail every day and drivers can also enter on race day.
