SFCR Crowns 2004 Track Champions

FARMINGTON, Mo. -- (Sept. 25, 2004) Joey Montgomery of Fredericktown continued his outstanding season at the St. Francois County Raceway Saturday night by picking up another sprint car feature win. Montgomery, the 2004 sprint car track champion at SFCR, held off the charge of Jerrod Hull of Sikeston to earn the victory while Jason Keith captured third place, Daniel Adler was fourth with Tommy Worley Jr. fifth. They were followed by Bryan Matthews, Robbie Standridge, Jimmy Hurley, Steve Short and Daron Clayton.

Hurley won the first heat race with Hull second and Adler third. Montgomery won the second heat with Matthews second and Clayton third. Worley won the third heat with Timmy Montgomery second and Standridge third. Keith won heat #4 with Gary Altig second and Bob Thoman third. Keith won the trophy dash with Joey Montgomery second and Worley third. Jeremy Standridge won the "B" main with Keith Burch second and A.J. Bruns third.
In the Modified class, 2004 track champion Billy "The Kid" Smith solidified his hold on that top spot by winning the feature, Brent Thompson was second with Jeremy Greenwalt third, Tommy Worley Sr. fourth and Brad Mashek fifth. They were followed by Timmy Hill, R.C. Hovis, Lou Driemeier, Adam Parmeley and Ryan Gegg. Worley won the first heat with John Bohn second and Eddie Gross third. Scott Weber won the second heat with Mike Francis second and Mike Crader third. Thompson won the third heat with Smith second and Hill third.

It was a wild night in the Sportsmen class with the track championship on the line for four racers. When the dust settled it appears Doug Savage of Farmington will be crowned the track champion by two points. Because of the tight race, track officials are going back and checking over all points in the class. In the feature on Saturday, Kenny Harris of Desloge was the feature winner with Jeremy Greenwalt second, Matt Eaton third, Savage fourth and Nathan Gibson fifth. They were followed by Brian Worley, Leonard Betsch, Billy Mayberry, Sammy Worley and Kevin Mosier. Harris won the first heat with Savage second and Sammy Worley third. Brad Mashek won the second heat with Betsch second and Eaton third. Greenwalt won the third heat with Gibson second and Mosier third. Kasey Nations won the "B" main with Mike Nicholson second and Randy Forster third.

In the 600cc Multi class, Casey Barnhouse of Farmington is the 2004 track champion, but on this night it was Dereck King winning the feature with Tom Dickerman second, Barnhouse third, Andy Moss fourth and Mike Hudson fifth. They were followed by Junior Ferguson, Dustin Barks, Jimmy Bridgeman, Shawn Merritt and Zack Barr. Merritt won the first heat race with Moss second and Hudson third. King won the second heat with Barr second and Joey Boyd third. Barnhouse won the third heat with Dickerman second and Ferguson third. Tom Owen won the "B" main with Kara King second and Rodney Williams third.

Coming up this Saturday at SFCR is the annual Queen's Royale. This year it's $3,500 to win the sprint car feature and $300 to start. The Sportsmen, Modifieds and the 600cc Multis will also be racing with additional purse money added.
