Farmington, MO (May 17) -- With a good sized crowd on hand for $5.00 Grandstand night at St Francois County Raceway. Action was at a premium. Three times on this evening winners would repeat and a new winner would come to the fore front.

The night was full of excitement as the first $5.00 Night unfolded. The great racing in all divisions, 50/50 drawing and a special tribute from the drivers to help one of their own.

Dave Wofford was injured in a accident early in the year. With the high medical expenses a group of driver got together and asked the crowd for their help. The crowd rose to meet the challenge and helped raise over $500 for “The Wolf.” Some of the drivers also donated their nights winnings as well.

Bill Skaggs and Dave both told the crowd, during the heat of battle on the track and some arguments after the races, we are all friends at heart. Thanking the fans many times for their gracious support.

Sprint Division racing for the evening found not only a two winner, but a long time favorite grabbing a checkered flag or two.

A J Bruns, Lincoln,, IL landed in the winners circle for the second time this season as he avoided a late race crash between the race leaders.

Keith Burch and Tommy Worley, Jr, both of Farmington, took to the fence in the late stages and were out. Burch, Bruns and Bryan Matthews would get away from the field and treck towards the win. Burch clearly had the fast car early on as he built up several car length advantage on the field. This would be erased on Lap 20. Matt Dotson brought out the first caution flag of the event. This would set up a 7 lap shootout for the win.

Burch took the advantage of the lapped cars in between himself and Worley on the restart and built his lead up once more. Worley had gotten himself around the slower cars and set sail for Burch. Entering turn three these two got together and headed for the turn four wall. Burch climbed the wall and laid his car over. He would walk away under his own power.

Bruns and Jason Keith were running third and fourth at the time. All were running the upper groove and took quick action to avoid further disaster. The accident allowed a 4 lap dash for the win. Bruns wins, Matthews, Second, Tom Dickerman, third, foruth to Steve Short and 5th went to Jimmy Hurley. (Complete results at end of article)

Thirty-three modified filled the pit area on Saturday night. Mike Francis, Fredericktown, MO, made a second trip to victory lane in his very fast #1 mount.

On the start Francis, Chris Boyd and Billy Smith got out of the gate quickly. This would go for several laps. Then Francis got his car hooked up and began to pull away from the field. With positions 2 thru 5 up for grabs. Boyd, David Shepard, Jeremy Greenwalt and Michael Abney were left to decide how the would finish. Several laps of back and forth of positions were decided as above.

Francis had to survive to cautions during the 15 lap event.

Pure Street Division has John Bohn, Farmington, MO as a repeat winner. Surviving three caution flags and relentless pressure from his teammate Shane Blair, Bohn cme home a winner. In post race interview, Bohn told the crowd he lost the poer steering on lap 3. Needles to say he was very tired by the end of the event.

Shane Blair, Ray Dodd, Josh Skaggs and Bill Skaggs completed the top five.

The Multi Feature hit the ground running with James Scott, Jefferson City, MO and Lynda Blanke, Festus, MO heading the field to the green.

Scott won his heat in wide fashion. Blanke on the other hand had to hold off a hard charging, an feature winner, Joe B. Miller for her win.

Joe B. Miller, Millersville, MO gets a win early this season at SFCR. Miller took the green at the outset and never looked back in the 15 lap event. Two time winner, Ryan Kempin made his way up to challenge miller, but came up a bit short for number three.
