St. Francois County Raceway Opens 2005 Season in Style

FARMINGTON, Mo. -- (April 9, 2005) There were 130 cars that packed the pits for opening night at the St. Francois County Raceway and a large opening night audience was not disappointed with the outstanding show they put on.

Joey Montgomery of Fredericktown started the season off right with a solid win in the Winged Sprint Cars as he easily held off the charge of Tommy Worley Jr. for the win. Worley settled for second place with Jerrod Hull third, Tim Montgomery fourth and Steve Short fifth. They were followed by Bob Thoman, Kent Buckley, Derek O'Dell, Curtis Boyer and Kenny Hambrick.

Joey Montgomery won the first heat race with Paul Patterson second and Hambrick third. Jimmy Hurley captured the second heat with Worley second and Dale Campbell third. Jason Keith won the third heat with Tim Montgomery second and Short third. Hurley won the dash with Joey Montgomery second and Tim Montgomery third. Keith Burch won the "B" main with Jason Hunt second.

In the Modified class, Billy "The Kid" Smith of Park Hills held off the charge of Kasey Burch of Farmington to pick up the checkered flag in the feature. Tommy Worley Sr. was third with Mike "Hurricane" Francis fourth and Joe Giesler fifth. They were followed by John Bohn, Jeremy Greenwalt, Adam Parmeley, R.C. Hovis and Mike Crader. Smith won the first heat with Greenwalt second and Parmeley third. Crader won the second heat with Ryan Gegg second and Pete Koenig third. Worley won the third heat with Tony Palmer second and Chris Boyd third. Burch won the fourth heat with Bohn second and Francis third. Brad McKinnon won the "B" main with Steve Maisel second and Danny Resinger third.

Kasey Nations of Park Hills started the 2005 season off in style with a feature win in the Sportsmen class. Matt Eaton was second with Doug Savage third, Leonard Betsch fourth and Kenny Harris fifth. They were followed by Randy Forster, Kyle Stolzer, Dustin Homan, Kevin Mosier and Dennis Wernle. Nations won the first heat race with Eaton second and Betsch third. Savage won the second heat with Homan second and Harris third.

Nearly 40 of the 600cc Multis were on hand for opening night and Derek King picked up the feature win with Ryan Crisswell second, Tyler Robbins third, Eric Ziegler fourth and Dustin Barks fifth. They were followed by Kara King, Tom Dickerman, Joey Boyd, Jeremy Boyer and David Chilton. Andy Moss won the first heat with Joey Boyd second and Robbins third. King won the second heat with Chilton second and Ray Statler third. Ziegler won the third heat with Crisswell second and Tom Owens third. King won the fourth heat with Kara King second and Brad Greer third. Casey Barnhouse won the "B" main (but was disqualified) with Dave Frohman second and Jake Bess third.

In the Pure Street class, Chris Webb of Fredericktown was the feature winner with Josh DeSpain second, Bill Skaggs third, Dale Cole fourth and Lonny Terrell fifth. They were followed by Chad DeSpain, Mark Sisson, Jason Mueller, Mark Todd and Ryan Robbins. Josh DeSpain won the first heat with Skaggs second and Derek Shipman third. Mark Todd won the second heat with Webb second and Sisson third.

Racing action will continue at the St. Francois County Raceway this Saturday night. Gates open at 4 p.m. with racing at 7 p.m. during Pasta House of Farmington night.
