Scott & Pam Phillips Motorsports Part with Travis Stemler After Nearly Three Seasons

Lake Odessa, MI (Wednesday, November 20, 2019) - With the official close of the 2019 season just over two weeks away, the American Ethanol Late Model Tour (AELMT) has learned that the runner-up in the 2019 Championship Points Standings will find himself in a new ride for the 2020 season. Travis Stemler announced during Monday night’s Horsepower Happenings’ podcast that he would join Chad and Kayla Anklam for the 2020 season.

Stemler raced for the eastern Michigan based Scott and Pam Phillips Motorsports crew for nearly three years. In that time, Stemler drove his way to one AELMT feature victory and one non-points feature win, along with two runner-up finishes in the Championship Points (2018 & 2019). The team also enjoyed many top five and top 10 performances during Stemler’s tenure.

When asked why he and the team split at the end of the season, Stemler said, “We had a great run, we had a good three years. We just, kinda, at the end of the year, just decided that it was time to go kinda separate directions in each other’s programs.”

Stemler went on to explain that one of the biggest contributing factors to the split was the travel time and distance between he and Scott and Pam Motorsports. He explained that it was nearly 2.5 hours one way for him to work on the car and help get it prepared for the upcoming races.

As the interview went on, Stemler revealed that he already has plans in line for the 2020 season, joining Freeland, Michigan’s Chad and Kayla Anklam in the McCallister Cat Rentals XR1 Rocket. Stemler also says that he began the process of preparing the car for the season ahead, and preparing the team with the purchase of a new truck and trailer for travel.
