A mutual business decision between Steve Shaver and Brad Malcuit has ended their two-season driver/owner relationship.

After the conclusion of the 2002 season, Steve Shaver and Brad Malcuit decided to go their separate ways. Both agreed that though they still enjoyed a wonderful friendship, their personal goals had simply changed. Due to this division, Steve Shaver will now spend the 2003 season under the direction of Bill and Mike Bland of Bill Bland Motorsports, but maintains he owes a great deal to Malcuit. Additionally, Steve will be leaving his familiar number 30 for the number 0.

“Brad helped change my entire racing philosophy. I learned to become more patient and disciplined under his supervision; it was a friendship based on a student/teacher principle. I just want people to understand that this was a joint decision. We fully plan on maintaining the relationship we created over the past two years,” claimed Steve Shaver.

Australia native Cy Wilson will join the team this season with his youth and knowledge of fabrication. Wilson will be working along side Steve’s three long-term crewmembers: Casey “Bulldog” Marshall, crew chief; Brian Hays, car maintenance guru; and Everett Shears, team engineer. With the help of these four, and Bill Bland Motorsports, General Manager/driver Steve Shaver is planning on another winning season.

In 2002, Shaver took third in the Renegade series point race, and his crew earned the honor of 2002 Renegade Crew of the Year. This season, he plans to run an Outlaw big-money-show schedule in place of a traditional Renegade points schedule, and hopes his three Rocket’s will bring him continued success in 2003.

The team is proudly sponsored by The Farm Used Auto Parts, Bland Towing, Dave Poske’s Performance Parts, United Bank of West Virginia, Lakeview Estates, The Guard Cleaning, Carrera Shocks, Hoosier Tire, Sunoco Race Fuels, and Panther Motorsports Graphics & Design.

Steve would like to thank his parents, Donna and Butch, wife Ami, and children Calli and Dylan, for their generous love and support throughout his racing career. Special thanks go to Dave Poske for his unfaltering support since 1994.
