by Ron Lueck - 24 Raceway, Moberly, MO: Last week was to be the end to the 2010 season points racing for a Championship in the five classes of A & B-Modifieds, Sportsman, Hobby Stock and 4 cylinder Hornets at 24 Raceway. However, with the July 31st and August 14th rain-outs, there's currently a six week gap between the racing at Moberly. And with four of the five classes separated by 6 points or less, there's more time needed to determine the class champions for 2010. So here's the plan that's been arrived at and settled on: the weekend of August 28, with only the three classes of A-mods, Hornets and Sportsman running, is not going to have any points awarded for the racing. There will be "show-up" points given to those cars entering the night's competition.

And then, for the following race of the September 11th B-mod Championship Shoot-Out, the points will be awarded to the four classes of A's, Sportsman, Hobbys and Hornets, just as they have been during the summer racing series. The B-mods will get "show-up" points for entering that night's competition.

And the final night of features scheduled for the 2010 season on September 25th, will be a POINTS RACING night. Awards and trophies will be given out later that night for the top finishers in the standings with all being awarded on the track front stretch. As long as the remaining schedule goes as planned, there will have been 12 races held this season, with each class sitting out at least one night in the season-long trek to their respective championships.

Most of the classes are yet to be decided for the champ, with separation by only 2 points in two. Standings can be viewed and compared at the website www.speednetdirect.com under 24 Raceway. The season standings are close in most of the five classes: In A-mods, Quincy's Steve Grotz leads by 2 points over Matt Dotson of Sturgeon, and the B-mods are almost as close with Gary Wilson from Holliday having an 8 point advantage on Kevin Embree of Paris. Chad Walter, Clarence, of the Sportsman class has the largest lead of all classes with that 30 point spread in front of Huntsville's Derrick Agee. And just 2 points separate leader Robert Winfrey of Moberly from Devin Still of Clarence in the Hornets.

The annual All-Star races will follow the September 25th features with the 5 winners of the 8-lap races for the All-Star race getting their car's picture posted for the 2011 season's website banner for www.24racewayinmoberly.com .
