CLARKSVILLE, TN – The StormPay.com Dirt Late Model Series National Tour will return to action this weekend with the three-race Salute To The Armed Forces Tour. All three races will take place in Middle Tennessee with the top Crate Late Model drivers in the country expected for rounds five, six, and seven of the 2006 StormPay.com Dirt Late Model Series National Tour.
The Tennessee Trio of 50-lap $3,000-to-win events begins this Thursday night at Duck River Speedway in Wheel, TN, then travels to Thunderhill Raceway in Lawrenceburg, TN on Friday night, and concludes on Saturday night at Clarksville StormPay.com Speedway in Clarksville, TN.
It could be a possible $10,000 payday if a driver can win all three races, as StormPay.com will pay a $1,000 bonus if a driver can win two of the three races.
This kind of money is expected to bring out many legendary dirt late model drivers, including Hall of Fame inductees, as well as several young guns looking to make a name for themselves in the sport. They all will be competing in the most economical dirt late models in the country powered by GM Performance Crate Engines, built and sealed at the factory.
The GM Performance Crate Engines cost one-tenth of what an unlimited engine costs, and the equality of what is under the hood lends more emphasis on driving talent and chassis set up, rather expensive horsepower.
Shannon Buckingham of Morristown, TN is one of the newcomers on the dirt late model scene, and he leads the StormPay.com Dirt Late Model Series National point standings with one win on the season. Buckingham is the only driver to post top ten finishes in all four StormPay.com DLMS events this season.
Buckingham holds a 24-point lead over National Dirt Late Model Hall of Fame driver Ronnie Johnson of Chattanooga, TN, who also has a win this season in StormPay.com DLMS action. Johnson also leads the NeSmith Chevrolet Hard Charger point standings with three top ten finishes.

Young Gun Frankie Beard of Hartwell, GA is the leading Rookie of the Year candidate in the StormPay.com DLMS National Tour. The 20-year-old driver is third in the National point standings, just four points behind Johnson.
David Gentry of Lewisburg, TN will be looking forward to racing in his own backyard over the weekend. The popular Tennessee racer is fourth in the StormPay.com DLMS National points with one win. Gentry, who has led the most laps of competition in the series this season, is only six points behind Beard.
Jimmy Kay of Taylorsville, GA is fifth in the StormPay.com DLMS National points with a pair of top five finishes in four races. Kay is only ten points behind Gentry. Four drivers are right on Kay’s heels for the fifth spot, with just 20 points separating fifth through ninth.
Last year’s StormPay.com Dirt late Model Series National Championship Runner-Up Jeff Fields of Aragon, GA is sixth, just eight points behind Kay. The Defending StormPay.com Dirt Late Model Series National Champion Denny Slayton of Rossville, GA is only six points behind Fields in the seventh spot.

Stokes is the promoter at Columbus Speedway, and Magnolia Motor Speedway, both in Columbus, MS. Both tracks are sanctioned under the StormPay.com Weekly Racing Series banner.
