CLARKSVILLE, TN – The StormPay.com Dirt Late Model Series is proud to announce an innovative Research and Development, and Marketing agreement with Bullet Performance Engines of Philadelphia, PA to bring an affordable and sealed Ford engine to compete in Crate Late Model racing for the first time.

In keeping the affordability factor that has become the theme of crate late model racing, the Bullet Performance Engines’ Ford will sell for just under $6,000 when it becomes available to competitors. The Bullet Performance Engines Ford will be available online at the StormPay.com Dirt Late Model Series web site at www.stormpayracing.com once the R&D phase has been completed.

Bullet Performance Engines will release the basic specifications of the Ford crate engine after the R&D phase has been completed. The target date for the Bullet Performance Engines Ford to be available to competitors is September 1.

Veteran dirt late model racer and Ford competitor Robert Gant of Flat Rock, AL will be the primary test driver for the Bullet Performance Engines Ford R&D effort.

“It is a pleasure to work with a professional company like Bullet Performance Engines to bring Ford into Crate Late Model racing,” StormPay.com Dirt Late Model Series Director Mike Vaughn said. “We’ve had a lot of calls from both racers and fans about a Ford competing in the series, and our association with Bullet Performance Engines now makes it possible for that to happen which will give the series more parody by involving another brand.”

Vaughn said there were two main reasons why the series has formed an association with Bullet Performance Engines to bring the Ford engine into crate late model competition.

“Bullet Performance Engines will have a very visible presence in the StormPay.com Dirt Late Model Series with factory and technical support,” Vaughn said. “They will be at the races with boots on the ground to not only develop the engine, but to provide the necessary parts and seals to authorized StormPay.com Dirt Late Model Series engine rebuilders.”

Bullet Performance Engines saw a need for an affordable Ford engine in crate late model racing, and looked at several areas of the country and several series to launch this project.

“The Southeast is the leading area of the country for crate late model racing, and we were impressed with the StormPay.com Dirt Late Model Series because it is growing in popularity with both competitors and fans,” Bullet Performance Engines Performance Sales Specialist Brad Mallen said. “The StormPay.com Dirt Late Model Series has the best growth potential, not only with their National Tour, but also with the Weekly Racing Series.”

Mallen said Bullet Performance Engines has been developing this engine for over 12 months, and will be releasing more information about the Ford crate engine after the completion of the R&D program.

“We have developed seals for the engine that are serialized and identified for tracking purposes, and we also have the proper tools online to tech and service the engines,” Mallen said. “We will be pursuing where the proper locations on the engine will be for these seals during the R&D cycle.”

Before the Bullet Performance Engine Ford becomes available to competitors, the engine will undergo an intense research and development phase in the coming weeks. Private test sessions will begin next week, and then the engine will undergo further testing in StormPay.com Dirt Late Model Series competition beginning on August 5 at Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL.

The R&D effort will be of a provisional nature, as a 25th car in coming events, and will not compete for points.

Gant is excited about the opportunity to put the new Bullet Performance Engines Ford crate engine through its paces in the coming weeks.

“I’m excited and honored to be the first one to get an opportunity to try this new engine out,” Gant said. “I think it’s great that a Ford will be available for crate late model racing because not having one has kept me out of the series. I’ve raced for over 15 years, and I’ve never had anything else under the hood but a Ford engine.”

Gant said not only is Ford’s entry into crate late model racing a benefit for himself, but it will also help the sport by creating a bigger fan base.

“Once the R&D program is finished, I’m looking forward to doing some crate late model racing with the Ford engine, and to be able to do it at an affordable price,” Gant said. “There are a lot of Ford fans out there, and this engine will bring them to the races to cheer for it.”

Vaughn said Gant was the logical choice to be the test driver for the Bullet Performance Engines R&D program for the Ford engine.

“Robert Gant is a well-known dirt late model racer using Ford engines with success, and he and his crew are very familiar with Fords which will be a benefit to the Bullet Performance Engines technical personnel,” Vaughn said. “Robert has also not run with the StormPay.com Dirt Late Model Series, so there will be no conflict with him running for points on the National Tour or the Weekly Racing Series.”

In addition to supplying the Ford crate engines, Bullet Performance Engines will also be contributing to the StormPay.com Dirt Late Model Series point fund for the 2007 season. Bullet Performance Engines will also be an associate sponsor of the 2nd Annual $10,000-to-win StormPay.com Crate Racin’ USA World Championship Race at East Bay Raceway Park in Tampa, FL on December 15-16.
