StormPay.com Weekly Racing Series Round Up For May 15

CLARKSVILLE, TN – Tony Albright and Jason Wilson remained on top of their respective regions after week seven of the StormPay.com Weekly Racing Series. Albright leads the West Region and Wilson leads the East Region. The dividing line between the two regions is I-65 through Alabama, Tennessee, and Kentucky.

After seven weeks of competition, a total of 177 different drivers have competed in StormPay.com Weekly Racing Series competition at 15 different race tracks in six different states.

Albright picked up the win on Friday night at Camden Speedway in Camden, TN, and he has also earned points this season at StormPay.com Speedway in Clarksville, TN, which will be in action this Tuesday night. Albright holds a 43-point lead over Kevin Watts, who took the victory on Saturday night at his home track, Pike County Speedway in Magnolia, MS, and has 230 points.

Behind Albright is a log jam for the next five spots, with just eight points separating second through sixth in the StormPay.com Weekly Racing Series West Region.

Talbert Goldman moved up to the third spot after a Saturday night win at Magnolia Motor Speedway in Columbus, MS. Goldman, with 229 points, is one point behind Watts. Goldman has earned points over the last seven weeks at Columbus Speedway in Columbus, MS, and Pike County Speedway.

Herman Reynolds is fourth in the StormPay.com Weekly Racing Series West Region with 227 points, and has earned points at Pike County Speedway, and Whynot Speedway in Meridian, MS. Jarrette Gunn, who competes at Swinging Bridge Raceway in Jackson, MS, and Pike County Speedway, rounds out the top five with 226 points.

Landon Frith is in the sixth spot with 222 points earned at Swinging Bridge Raceway and Pike County Speedway. Brian Caudle has earned 216 points at StormPay.com Speedway and Camden Speedway to hold down the seventh spot. Pike County Speedway driver Jeff Danos is eighth with 210 points.

A pair of StormPay.com Speedway and Camden Speedway drivers round out the top ten in the StormPay.com Weekly Racing Series West Region with Steven Ashby in ninth with 186 points, and Jerry “Mutt” Trotter is tenth with 168 points.

Drivers from Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL and Childersburg Speedway in Childersburg, AL hold down the first six spots of the StormPay.com Weekly Racing Series East Region. Wilson, with 380 points, holds a 20-point lead over Adam Martin. John Pierce is third with 344 points, followed by Carlton Freeman with 309 points.

Freeman moved up to the fourth spot after winning one of two feature events on Saturday night at Talladega Short Track. Jimmy Elkins is fifth with 278 points, and Anthony Clifton is sixth with 255 points.

Logan Yates is in the seventh spot, having earned 246 points at Talladega Short Track, and Steve Kirk is eighth with 234 points from Talladega Short Track. Buddy George is ninth with 218 points compiled at both Talladega Short Track and Childersburg Speedway, and Chris Turley, a Talladega Short Track competitor, rounds out the top ten in the East Region with 205 points.

Other winners in StormPay.com Weekly Racing Series West Region action over the weekend included Luckey Keeton taking the season opener on Saturday night at Whynot Motorsports Park. J.D. Henry was the winner at Swinging Bridge Raceway on Saturday night, and Jeff Echols was the winner on Saturday night at Thunderhill Raceway in Lawrenceburg, TN on Saturday night.

Malden Speedway in Malden, MO continues to battle Mother Nature, enduring their fifth rainout over the past six weeks on Friday night. StormPay.com Speedway was off on Saturday night, and will be in competition this Tuesday night.

Other winners over the weekend in the StormPay.com Weekly Racing Series East Region were Tony Kemp on Friday night at Childersburg Speedway, Tim Staples on Saturday night at Talladega Short Track, and Jay Sessoms on Saturday night at I-77 Speedway in Chester, SC.

The thoughts and prayers of the StormPay.com Weekly Racing Series tracks and competitors are with I-77 Speedway owner and promoter Jim Lineberger, who is hospitalized. All wish Jim a speedy recovery.

Thunder Mountain Speedway in Fyffe, AL was rained out on Saturday night, and will schedule double features for the StormPay.com Weekly Racing Series Crate Late Models this Saturday night. Willard Speedway in Willard, KY was also rained out on Saturday night, and Modoc Speedway in Modoc, SC was closed this past Saturday night due to an electrical failure.
