MERIDIAN, MS – StormPay.com Weekly Racing Series West Region Championship contender Herman Reynolds of Laurel, MS is recovering from a heart attack suffered Saturday night while preparing his race car for the feature race at Whynot Motorsports Park. Reynolds is currently undergoing a stint procedure at Rush Hospital, and is optimistic about his return to racing.

“I guess all of this racing just about killed me, but I’ll be back as soon as I feel up to it, and try to gain a few more points before the 24-week StormPay.com Weekly Racing Series season is over,” Reynolds said. “I had three blocked arteries, two at 90 percent, and one at 60 percent. They opened up the two bad ones with stints, and they’re going to do the third one today.”

Reynolds has nine wins this season in StormPay.com Weekly Racing Series competition, and after the first 16 weeks of the 24-week season, Reynolds was only one point behind the West Region point leader Talbert Goldman. A drivers’ top 16 finishes count towards their regional point total.

“We are happy that Herman Reynolds is going to recover from this, and he will come back and race another day,” StormPay.com Dirt Late Model Series President of Operations and Communications Roby Helm said. “I talked to Herman yesterday and today. He is in great spirits, and is anxious to get back in the race car, but at the same time, he realizes he has to feel up to it.”
