CLARKSVILLE, TN – Clarksville StormPay.com Speedway will open this Saturday with a special $800-to-win non-points event for the StormPay.com Weekly Racing Series Crate Late Model Division. There will be a $200 bonus to the winner if their GM Performance Crate Engine was purchased from Wyatt Johnson GMC in Clarksville.

The track will unveil several new things for the 2006 season, including a new track sponsorship with the Clarksville-based global Internet auction company, StormPay.com. This sponsorship has enabled track owners William and Tammy Scogin to make several improvements to the track that include a new control tower, and upgraded lighting.

The night of racing will feature the new StormPay.com Crate Late Model Division that will be a part of the StormPay.com Weekly Racing Series. Drivers in the StormPay.com Crate Late Model Division at Clarksville StormPay.com Speedway will be competing against drivers at other StormPay.com Weekly Racing Series tracks throughout the country for regional and national points.

The StormPay.com Weekly Racing Series points season will begin on March 31 and run through October 1. The StormPay.com Weekly Racing Series Crate Late Models are powered by economical GM Performance Crate Engines built and sealed at the factory. These engines are readily available at GM dealerships.

“William and Tammy Scogin have been big supporters of the StormPay.com Dirt Late Model Series and the StormPay.com Weekly Racing Series,” StormPay.com Dirt Late Model Series President of Operations and Communications Roby Helm said. “They were the first track to sign up for the StormPay.com Weekly Racing Series, and will also host two big National Touring events.”

In addition to the StormPay.com Weekly Racing Series, the sanctioning body also features the StormPay.com Dirt Late Model Series National Touring Series. The National tour will visit Clarksville StormPay.com Speedway in May 27 with a $3,000-to-win main event, and then return on July 3-4 with a $7,500-to-win two-day show.

Among the StormPay.com National Touring drivers expected to compete this Saturday night at Clarksville StormPay.com Speedway are two Clarksville drivers, National Dirt Hall of Fame inductee Jeff Purvis, and Carnell Parker. All competitors in the StormPay.com Crate Late Model Division will be required to use the Hoosier WRS-2 55 tire.

The gates will open at noon, with hot laps set for 2 p.m., and racing is scheduled for 4 p.m. Clarksville StormPay.com Speedway is located off Exit 4 on I-24.
