Glasgow, KY-June 13- Randle Sweeney of Clifty, KY grabbed the lead in the early stages of the 25 lap NARA Modified feature event and went on to score the $600 payday in scoring his second Modified feature win of the year at Barren County Speedway. In other action, Johnny Threet of Scottville, KY claimed his second Pro Street feature win, Garnett Eldridge of Jeffersonville, IN won the Pure Street feature, while Bradley Matthews of Smiths Grove, KY was the Chevette feature winner.
The Modified feature saw Freddy Garmon and Jimmy Payne bring the field to green, with Garmon taking the top spot. Sweeney would scoot by Payne and begin to put the pressure on Garmon and eventually take the top spot, with Payne in tow. Caution would slow the pack on lap 5 as Jason Riney would loop his mount in turn two. Back under green, Sweeney and Payne would begin to distance themselves from the rest of the field, while Butch Shay and Allen Matthews would dice it up for third. Matthews would eventually take the third spot, when the caution would wave on lap 13 as fifth place running Robbie Sanders would spin his entry exiting turn four. When the field went back to green this time, Matthews would join Payne and Sweeney as those three pulled away a bit from fourth place running Shay, with Freddy Garmon fifth, and last week's winner Stacey York now sixth. Caution would again wave on lap 20 as Sanders would spin again, this time in turn two. The restart would see Garmon try to work around Shay for fourth, but Garmon would spin his mount in turn two on lap 21. The final circuits would see Sweeney pull away from Payne to take the win in his Willhite Speed and Performance, Bilstein Shocks #182 STM Chassis entry. Payne would go second, with Matthews third. Shay and Johnny Wheeler would complete the top five. Mike Sweeney would go sixth, with Riney recovering from his earlier spin to charge back to seventh. Sanders, rookie Justin Ratliff, and Jeff Jones would complete the top ten. Heat wins went to Garmon and Payne.
The Pro Street feature would see Johnny Threet lead all 15 laps in scoring this division's feature race win aboard his Sam Carter Construction, Red Barn Farms, Scottsville Game Room, Southern Heritage Motorcycles #31 mount. The remainder of the top five would be Tommy Cummings, Robert Houchens, Daryl Butler, and Dave Crawford. Threet would also win the heat.
The Pure Street feature event would see Jimmy Lyon and Chuck Freeman battle for the lead for the majority of the event, when Lyon would have a mechanical failure on a restart with three laps to go and hang Freeman up, allowing Garnett Eldridge to drive by and claim the feature win in the RapidFire Motorsports, Kathy's Goat Ranch sponsored #G9 entry. Bryant Wilson would take runner-up honors, with Joe Blair, Jacob Harvey, and Mitchell Vernon completing the top five. Heat wins were scored by Lyon and Freeman.
The Chevette feature would have a wild finish with the pack four wide in turns one and two on the final lap, with Bradley Matthews coming out on top in his Matthews Oil, Well Service, Scott Markets, Willhite Speed and Performance sponsored #3 mount. Joey Blair would finish second, with Mike Graham, 11 year old Chase McWhorter, and Jeremy Griggs completing the top five. Griggs was the heat race winner.
