Sweeney takes top honors in the Late Model Season Championship at Clarksville

Clarksville Speedway opened the gates with 21 Late Models.The night starts out with qualifying, fast time set by Randle Sweeney set at 12.894.

In the Dash (33) Sweeney and (1) Albright race side by side, with Tony Albright taking the win. Heat # 1 leading every lap was won by (4) Jimmy Grant and Heat 2 was also led by one man (20) Gary Johnson leading every lap.

With the field being set, the field rolls out on the track on a very slick track. One of the slickest of the year. After numerous attempts to start the race, we finally get under way. Randle Sweeny takes the lead with Tony Albright in hot pursuet. Sweeney never looks back and takes home the title of Season Championship. Randle Sweeney was also voted “Most Popular Driver for 2004”. A much deserved title. Sweeney wins the battle but Albright wins the points war!

The Open Wheel Modifed’s started out with a field of 14 cars. With UMP points coming to an end and track points running a close race, (182) Randle Sweeny and (15) Clayton Miller along with (99) David Flowers gave it all they could. Sweeney and Miller having their share of problems during the night, (7X) Gil Smith slips in for the feature win. After all is said and done, Miller leads Flowers by only 3 points for the track Championship.

The Street Stock championship narrows down from three cars to two. (45)Dale McCord looses ground when he had engine trouble, after he had won Heat 1. Heat 2 was won by (87) Dale Phillips with (H55) Ronnie Headgepath on his bumper. Phillips and Hedgepath again battle it out for the Feature race. Dale Phillips takes it all the way to the checkered flag.

In the Pro Street qualifying the fast time was set by (RC1) Brian Caudle at 14.706.
Heat 1 was won by (64) Matt Potter leading every lap. Caudle won the Dash and also won the feature. This was his night for victory.

The Pure Mini Heat leader stared out with (77) Tim Hunter until (12) Chris Perrigo
took over the lead during lap 3. Then during lap 6 (14) Michael Perrigo charges to the front to take the win.

After a night of exciting races, our midnight curfew came to a close as the Mini Mod. race was uncontested as car (55) Mike Johnson wins the first Heat race. Ronnie Richardson takes the checkered flag for both the second Heat and the Feature race.
