On Friday, May 28, 2010 the USAC Silver Crown cars will run the 57th Annual Hoosier Hundred on the famous one-mile dirt oval at the Indiana State Fairgrounds in Indianapolis, Indiana. First off, NASCAR Star Ken Schrader will be in attendance for the first time ever in a UMP Modified during the Hoosier Hundred. Also, for the first time ever the UMP Modified division will be racing as it will be the first race in a three race point fund series. Ken Schrader will be piloting his #9 Federated Car Care Modified competing in the first of many races planned by Track Enterprises this year. USAC Silver Crown teams will be introduced to a fresh new format in the 100 mile endurance race. With closer competition and excitement in mind, this year’s event will feature a planned mid-race stoppage, the first of its kind in Hoosier Hundred competition. Coming on lap 51 of the 100-lap event, a red flag will re-set the race for the final half of the event. This short halting of the race pr!
ovides an opportunity for teams to work on their machines to prepare for the final run to the checkers, and sets up an exciting return to green-flag action. Upon re-firing cars, the field will align in double-file formation, supplying a second breath-taking roar into the first corner.

The day will consist of practice at 5:00 p.m., Silver Crown qualifying at 6:00 p.m. and the races will begin with the UMP Modified feature set to begin at 7:00 p.m. and the USAC Silver Crown Series feature to kick off at approximately 8:00 p.m. The Hoosier Hundred will be the first stop in the three race point series for the UMP Modifieds, the second will be held at the Illinois State Fair on Saturday, Aug 21. The last leg of the Triple Crown will be a two day event on the Magic Mile at the DuQuoin State Fairgrounds on September 5 & 6. Each of these three thrilling Modified races will feature $2,000 to win and a point fund at the end of the series of races. Last year’s Hoosier Hundred winner was Shane Hollingsworth. This tradition rich race will be brought to you by Track Enterprises, Inc.

The USAC’s Silver Crown Championship Series showcases the nation’s most competitive racing series on the Indiana State Fairgrounds’ one- mile dirt oval in a 100-mile race which has produced a list of champions including America’s greatest drivers. Indianapolis 500 Champions Bob Swiekert, Jimmy Bryan, Rodger Ward, A.J. Foyt, Parnelli Jones, Mario Andretti and Al Unser are former winners, as are current NASCAR stars/USAC graduates J.J. Yeley and Jason Leffler. This year’s Hoosier Hundred will be special in many ways and now means more than ever to the great heritage of Indiana Racing.
