Lexington, Ky - After a successful trip to Eastern Kentucky and some Madness in the Mountains this past weekend the STARS Battle of the Bluegrass DirtCar Series Presented by Arizona Sports Shirts returns to Central Kentucky this Friday and Saturday, July 11 and 12. With 12 shows in the books and 10 different winners look for some excellent racing this weekend as the series visits the "Action Track" Richmond Raceway in Richmond, KY for a special Friday Night of racing this week. It will be the fifth ever visit to the James Stinnett and Robert Reed Promoted facility and the second this season. In the previous four stops Jesse James Lay, Mike Hawley with two wins and Mike Marlar this year have all visited victory circle at Richmond. Richmond normally runs Saturday Nights but this special Battle of the Bluegrass event starts off an exciting two days of racing for the BoB Boys. So far at Richmond in 2003, Scott Douglas of Waco, KY has posted three feature wins and former track champion, Bobby Carrier Jr of Harrodsburg, KY has two feature victories. Other feature winners in the Late Model division at Richmond this year include David Freeman, Mike Jewell and Jim Curry.

A full race program for the STARS Battle of the Bluegrass Late Models will take place at Richmond with Racing Optics/Bullzilla Graphics Time Trials, Heat Races, AFCO Racing Products B-Mains and a 40 lap PBM Performance A-Main. Also on the race program will be open wheel modifieds and bombers. Richmond Raceway is located on Greens Crossing Road. Gates will open at 4:30 pm on Friday at Richmond. For further information please contact the track at (859) 623-9408.

On Saturday Night, the series heads to the Bluegrass Speedway in Bardstown, KY for the Fifth Annual "Kentuckiana Klash" featuring the STARS Battle of the Bluegrass Late Models. The 30 lap main event will pay $3000 to win and a full race program for the BoB Late Models will feature Racing Optics/Bullzilla Graphics Time Trials, Heat Races, AFCO Racing Products B-Mains and the 30 lap PBM Performance A-main. Also on the race card at Bardstown with the Battle of the Bluegrass will be the Modifieds and Sportsman.

It will be the sixth visit to the Home of the 2003 Dirt Track World Championship in October as Bluegrass Speedway hosts the STARS Battle of the Bluegrass for the third time in 2003. In the previous five events held at Bardstown for the BoB Series there have been five different event winners with Rick Corbin, Eddie Carrier Jr., Mike Jewell, Don O'Neal and Darrell Lanigan all scoring event wins. The ultra competitive half mile has seen Bryan Barber of Buffalo, KY and Brad Neat of Dunnville, KY each win three times at their home track this season. Other winners this year at Bluegrass Speedway include Tim Tungate and Whitney McQueary. The David and Anita Ferrell promoted facility has just announced that the Dirt Track World Championship on October 18-19 will pay $60,000 to win, so this Saturday Night will see more track time for those drivers wanting to get their machines lined out for that race. Adult General Admission at Bardstown will be $15 with children ages 6 to 12: $8 and children under age 6 admitted for free. Pit Passes will be $30.
