The "Dauminator" Wins Tri-City C.A.R.S. Event
(DuQuoin, IL) Once again Fifteen year old Zach Daum of Greenville, IL proved to be the "Dauminator" as he was the first to take the checkered flag after starting deep in the field in the eleventh position Sunday night at the Tri-City Speedway in Pontoon Beach, IL.
Casey Montague started on the pole of the feature event after winning the first C.A.R.S heat race with C.A.R.S. National Points Leader, Jeff Walston starting on the outside of row one. Walston was able to jump to the lead on the start with Montague running second and the "Super Natural" Will Hicks running third. Montague spun in turn three on the second lap bringing out the first caution.
On the restart it was all Walston with Hicks running second and C.A.R.S. new comer Dallas Bennett in third. Meanwhile with a lot of three wide action throughout the field, the #2x of Nick Lyons was making a charge to the front and after making it to the second position Lyons spun with only a handfull of laps left, virtually eliminating Lyons chances for a win.
On the final restart it was Walston, Daum and Brian McCormick racing for the lead. Daum challenged Walston for several laps and with only a few laps left to go Daum was able to get underneath Walston, made the pass stick and never looked back. McCormick was able to get under Walston coming to the checkers and took the second position with Walston finishing in the third position.
