The Wild West Shootout Gets Wild Starting this Week

(January 3rd, 2011) - The hype continues to build for one of the largest Super Late Model events in the west as a super pool of talent gears up to battle it out for six races in nine nights. The highly anticipated unofficial entry list of Late Model super hero's continues to grow well over fifty cars with the Modified entry list close behind.

While most of the country is surrounded by deep snow and frigid temperature's Tucson's USA Raceway will be the place to be for the top Late Model and Modified racers from around the country. The migration to the south is under way and the festivities will kick off this Friday night with an open practice as everyone gears up for a wild week of racing action.

"The Wild West Shootout is one of my favorite events with six nights of racing and a whole lot of fun" commented Benji Lyons. "You never really know what's going to happen during this event, the racing action is unbelievable and the after race happenings are usually just as exciting."

The Wild West Shootout which takes place on the second weekend of January and commences the following weekend enters it 5th year and is anticipated to be one of the largest racing events of 2011. The best of the best in Super Late Models and Modifieds will tackle USA Raceway's 3/8-mile clay oval for six days on January 8, 9, 12, 14, 15 and 16, with more than $150,000 in prize money to be distributed over the course of the blockbuster event. A $10,000 top prize awaits the shootout event finale, The Bill Cheesbourg Memorial, on January 16.

Test 'N Tune session on Friday January 7th from 6-9 pm

Event Format: Heat races with passing/finishing points to determine feature lineups.

Jimmy Mars and Billy Moyer went head to head in the 2010 Wild West Shootout with Moyer winning three of the six events while Mars picked up the opening round and the $10k Bill Cheesbourg Finale. Terry Phillips, defending and only 2-Time Wes Hurst Memorial Champion, also picked up a mid week win with a last lap pass making for his 9th win of the 5 year event.


More than 100 of the top cars and drivers from around the US and Canada will take to the track over the nine day event that begins on Saturday January 9th with the $3k to win Wild West Shootout opener and will conclude with the $10k to win Wild West Shootout "Bill Cheesbourg Memorial".
