– The third annual St. Louis Nostalgia Rendezvous will take place Saturday at the Gateway Motorsports Park Dragplex. This throwback event will feature nostalgia drag racing (including Nostalgia Funny Cars), a pin-up girl contest, a traditional custom car and hot rod show (nothing newer than 1972) and rockabilly bands.


All-nostalgia drag racing includes:Nitro Nostalgia Funny Car exhibition, the Great Lakes Funny Car Association, the Nostalgia Drag Racing League's 2016 season-opener, the Victory Nostalgia Super Stocks club, the Nostalgia Gassers Racing Association, Ozark Mountain Super Shifters and bracket racing for 1979-and-older vehicles. The first round of Nostalgia Funny Cars are scheduled to take to the track at noon.


The Gears And Gals Magazine pin-up girl contest is open to ladies 18 and older. There will be two separate, judged categories: best period-correct costume and period-correct bathing suit. The highest score from both contests will be crowned the overall Ms. Nostalgia Rendezvous. Overall prizes include: $300 for first place, $200 for second place, $100 for third place, $50 for fourth and $25 for fifth. Additional trophies will be awarded to Best Costume and Best Swimsuit. Contestants may pre-register up until 5 p.m. on May 5 to receive free admission to the show. The contest will be held at the party pavilion stage with two rounds: costume at 2 p.m., swimsuit at 5 p.m.


The traditional hot rod and custom car show will award 11 trophies (Best Rat Rod, Best Lead Sled, Best Engine, Best Chopper, Best Fabrication, Best Interior, Rat Rod Kings Pick, Trip Daddys Pick, Gears & Gals Magazine Pick, Chuck-A-Burger Pick and Track Crew Pick). The car show is open to pre-1973 cars and motorcycles. Car show roll-in starts at 9 a.m. and car entry is free with paid driver admission. Car show awards will be presented at 6:15 p.m.


St. Louis music legends, the Trip Daddys and Rat Rod Kings, will perform on the party pavilion stage from 11 a.m.-5 p.m. on Saturday.


St. Louis Nostalgia Rendezvous schedule -- Saturday, May 7

7 a.m. -- Gates open.

8 a.m. -- Tech inspection.

9 a.m. -- Final bracket time trials.

9 a.m.-2 p.m. -- Car and chopper show roll-in. Car show entry is free with price of admission.

10 a.m. -- Final NDRL & VSS qualifying.

11 a.m.-5 p.m. -- Midway music and entertainment.

Noon -- First Funny Car session.

1 p.m. -- NDRL & VSS eliminations.

1 p.m. -- Car show judging begins.

2 p.m. -- First pin-up contest session (costume).

4 p.m. -- Second Funny Car session.

5 p.m. -- Second pin-up contest session (swimsuit).

5:30 p.m. -- All final rounds of eliminations.

6 p.m. -- Burnout and flame-throwing contest.

6:15 p.m. -- Car show awards.


ENTRY FEES AND ADMISSION:

Single-day spectator or crew pass: $19.

Two-day spectator or restricted-area crew pass: $35.

Kids 12 and under: Free.

Car Show: Free for period-correct, pre-1973 cars with spectator ticket purchase.

Nostalgia Sportsman Bracket ¼-mile: $50.

Nostalgia Pro Bracket 1/8-mile: $50.

Nostalgia grudge/fun runs ¼-mile: $35.
