As with speedway karts routing their way around the 1/8th mile, high banked Coliseum dirt track faster each week, so does the complete racing program.

Even though the kart count was a bit lower than most times, due mainly to the biggest holiday season coming up four days later, 78 entries churned out 49 events that started at 5:10 pm and was all over in 3 hours and 10 minutes during the seventh out of 19 scheduled Saturday nights in the 2002-3 “Coliseum Indoor Winter Speedway Kart Racing Series”.

The only weekend off between now and through the third weekend in March, racing this coming Saturday night will NOT hold the event due to the holidays. They'll return to go at it again the next week, January 4th, 2003.

Still proving to be the most competitive class out of the thirteen divisions, the Anderson Racing Kart Engines Rookie Beginners fo! und a sixth different winner out of seven race nights. Elsberry, Missouri's Graden Lovelace claimed his very-own 'first ever' feature out of a 10 kart field made up of 'true rookies'; 5 though 8 years old!.

In the other five Junior classes, 3 wins were posted by all-Fulton Missourians. Jordan Holland took honors for the second week in a row in the Goody's Steakburger Junior 1 Lights, the Busso AA Muffler Junior 1 Heavy trophy was garnered by points leader Ethan Burke and another class points king, Patrick J. Mahnken, copped his third feature of the year, his first on the TCI Tires Center Junior 2 Heavy side.

'Mr. 2-Cycle' M! ike Floyd from Jefferson City pulled down both blue smokin' mains; the Russell Karting Specialties 2-Cycle Controlled and the KDKD-FM “Checkered Flag” Open.

We've said it this way before, and we'll do it again for the racing team from Lohman; the 'Bunches'. They won in bunches as Jamie Bunch took both the super-tough Stock Mazzio's Pizza Medium and Fairfield Motor Service Heavy main affairs. In was Gary 'dad' Bunch that won the top honors in the Dale's Tow Stock Super Heavy run.

The world's loudest class of karts, known at the Coliseum as the “Kix Kountry Krazy Kage Karts”, again had a ding-dong battle in their main event. After experien! cing two different leaders, Laurie, Missouri's Jon Herndon stepped into the lead and resultant victory for his second time this year.

Tyler 'pooh bear' Blank, all the way from California (Missouri), came out on top by winning the Yeager's Suzuki Stock Light laurels.

The racing fans out for their 'wintertime need for a different kind of horse-powered speed' will have to make it through two weeks as THIS coming Saturday night will see no activity due to the major holidays. They'll all return next year; Saturday night, January 4th, 2003.

Admission to the grandstands for adults is $5, 6 to 10 years old-$3 and under 6 years of age, free. The pit office starts taking sign-ins at 1 p.m., the grandstands are unlocked at 3, hot laps circle at 4 with the first qualifying heat flagged for 5 pm.
