The ever-popular UMP Super Late Models will return this coming Saturday night, April 23rd, to the weekly racing card at the Mt. Vernon Raceway.

The class was slated to be a once a month "special", but with the overwhelming response from the die hard Super Late Model fans, especially after this past weeks UMP Challenge of Champions Series. Mt. Vernon principal partner Rick Heck was quoted as saying, "The phone practically rang off the hook with racers and fans alike wanting to see the UMP Late Models return on a weekly basis".

Mt. Vernon Raceway will still keep it’s Steel Block Latemodel class but with the addition of the Fastrak Racing Series Late Models. The Fastrak Late Models Series is a "touring" series where instead of the cars utilizing a custom built aluminum race motors they use a GM (General Motors) "crate engine", purchased directly from a GM parts supplier. Sean Franklin, the Fastrak Midwest Regional Director said "It’s great that Rick (Heck), and Tim (Herbst, Mt. Vernon Raceways Director of Competition) have adjusted their Steelblocks rules to allow our Fastrak Late Models to compete on a weekly basis. It lets the fans and racers alike see our Fastrak Late Models in action".

Mt. Vernon Raceway is the first track in the Mid-West to add the class to a weekly program. The Fastrak Touring Series makes their debut at Mt. Vernon Raceway Saturday, May 28th.

Filling out the weekly racing program at the Mt. Vernon Raceway will be the UMP Modifieds, Hobby Stocks, and the 4 cylinder Hornets.

Racing gets underway each and every Saturday night with Hot laps and UMP Super Late Model Qualifying at 6:00pm with the first heat race to roll off at 7:00pm.
