FOUNTAIN CITY, Wis. (July 15) – The USMTS Casey’s General Stores National Tour powered by Swan Energy event slated for Friday night, July 15, at the Mississippi Thunder Speedway in Fountain City, Wis., is the latest victim of Mother Nature’s unpredictable wrath.
Heavy rain throughout the afternoon forced track owner Bob Timm to pull the plug on the much-anticipated event. Officials are looking at possible replacement dates, but no make-up race is on the books as of now.
The series now heads back to New Richmond, Wis., for some unfinished business at the Cedar Lake Speedway where the same wet fate was experienced last month during the annual Masters event at the 3/8-mile clay oval.
Ryan Gustin dominated the first night of the two-day event on Friday, June 17, but the thunderstorms that threatened to cancel that show left no doubt on Saturday as the grounds were soaked throughout the day.
Tomorrow’s program will also feature Late Models and Midwest Mods. Gates open at 5 p.m. and racing begins at 6.
