NASCAR STARS INVADE THE VALLEY
Grain Valley, MO (October 19th) – With the weekend NASCAR event in town – Valley Speedway again hosted a couple of name drivers from the series during the ASCS Warrior Region finale at Valley Speedway this past weekend.

ASCS Warrior Region heats were captured by Tony Stewart who broke the track record time with an 11.59 lap during his heat and Kyle Bellm of Nixa, Missouri. Jonathan Cornell who was third place behind Stewart in the same heat race didn’t waste any time getting in front of Stewart in the feature. Cornell – the Sedalia native – led from the green flag as Tyler Blank chased close on his bumper. A lap 4 caution slowed their progress and bunched the field for the restart and allowed Stewart to challenge for the front spot. Stewart would get unsettled coming out of turn 4 and later in turn one – ending his challenge for the event. Cornell would go on to take the checkers with Stewart runner-up and Jay Russell, Miranda Arnold and Brad Ryun rounding out the top five spots.

The Valley Sprint Non-Winged event also featured well know driver JJ Yeley piloting the Jack Hockett #77 sprinter. Yeley bested local favorite Josh Stephens to win his heat race while Casey Baker and 72 year-young Bob Thoman won the other heat races for the event. Yeley took the point on the drop of the green flag chased by Chris Parkinson, Mitchell Moore and Zach Sanders. Yeley would be challenged by several of the Valley Sprint drivers during the event which had only 1 caution flag in the 25 laps. – Yeley and the Hockett machine passed all tests and went on to take the checkers with Moore, Sanders, Thoman and Austin Alumbaugh rounding out the top five finishers.

SMVR Vintage cars were 13 strong and as usual battled from green thru the checkered flag. Damon Clevenger would lead all laps - but the most important final one as Kenny Price beat him to the checkered along with Darren Shore in the runner-up spot. Clevenger would finish third and Dave Snedeger and Larry Quint rounded out the top five. Shore and Price each won heat race events also.

The wingless Valley Sprints put on a show that was unbeilavable for the fans. JJ Yeley took the checkered with Mitchell Moore close at hand.
