BONNE TERRE, Mo. -- (September 3, 2006) Josh Varner of Bonne Terre and Eric McCoy of Potosi were both crowned "King of the Hill" during a special competition at Big River Sand Drags Saturday.
The event, organized by the Driver's Seat-Online newspaper, featured the top placing finishers from the opening night of the Midwest Nationals. In the MSRA division, that featured the top eliminators from the Open 4x4 class (J.R. Dreher of Wentzville), Vehicle ET (Gladys Edwards of Bonne Terre), Stock Buggy (Ralph Smith of Mineral Point), and Competition Eliminator (Josh Varner of Bonne Terre) compete ted in a single-elimination tournament. In the championship match, Varner not only won the race he also posted the only perfect reaction time of the starting light for the entire weekend to earn the title of "King of the Hill" in the MSRA division.
The other "King of the Hill" title went to McCoy in the ATV division. To qualify, racers had to finish in either first or second place in Super Pro ATV, Pro ATV or ATV-1. McCoy, the youngest competitor in the event, first defeated Tim Brown from the Super Pro class before defeating Jevin Rolphi of ATV-1 before meeting Jim Glatzcak of Potosi of Pro ATV in the title match. McCoy was victorious to take the title, the trophy and the $295 first place prize.
The event was sponsored by Ski Cola, Larry's Automotive of Bonne Terre, Bigfoot Offroad and Performance Center of Potosi, DMR Performance of Bonne Terre, KMB Construction of Poplar Bluff, Mortgage Center of Bonne Terre. There were also several individuals who made contributions to the prize money.

On Saturday, in Junior ATV, Thad Farris of Potosi was the first place winner with Whitney Dee of Leadwood taking second and top eliminator.
In ATV-1, Jevin Rolphi of DeSoto was the first place and top eliminator winner with Eric McCoy second.
In Pro ATV, Jim Glatczak of Potosi was the top eliminator and first place winner with Neal Werner of St. Louis was second.
In Super Pro ATV, Kevin Betzer Jr. of Arnold was the first place winner with Tim Brown of Bonne Terre taking second and winning the top eliminator race.
In Open 4x4, J.R. Dreher of Wentzville was the top eliminator and first place winner with Dan Wies of Wentzville second.
In Stock Buggy, Ralph Smith of Mineral Point was the top eliminator and first place winner while Adam Smith of Fredericktown was second.

In Vehicle ET, Bobby Cunningham was first with Gladys Edwards of Bonne Terre taking second and top eliminator.

In Competition Eliminator, Terry Wies of Wentzville was the top eliminator and first place winner with John Dreher of Wentzville taking second place.
