4/4/08 (St. Louis, MO) -- What do you get when you cross Red Bull with Shane Walters the web geek from Walters Web Design? It's simple, some kickin websites.That's exactly what the world wide web has been getting from the desk of Walters Web Design these past few days.
In just one short week we have kicked out four brand new websites (UtterMotorsports.com, VogelRacing.com, VogelSheetMetal.com, and our own brand new website WaltersWebDesign.com) that we feel are all top notch sites at the front of the pack. Way in front! The best part, we still don't feel we have reached the limit or even close! With more sites coming very soon we should have everyone buzzing about all our latest work.
The first site released earlier this week was UtterMotorsports.com and we feel we stepped up the layout of this site 110%. Over the years the team has changed the colors of their cars almost every year and we have also just changed a few things here and there. As a result the site ended up with about 50 different colors used in the layout. We kicked out this new website from scratch and the results were like gold on your computer screen! Jason Utter of Utter Motorsports will kick off his 2008 racing season April 11th at Davenport Speedway in Davenport, IA for the special World Dirt Racing League event.
The next two sites to be checked off the list were VogelRacing.com and VogelSheetMetal.com. The Vogel Sheet Metal site was a huge project we took on about two months ago and it was much different from anything we have attempted in the past. This site was designed to be very user friendly as the site basically guides you to the information your looking for with the use of pictures. Instead of reading a bunch of boring plain text to navigate thru the site we took a totally different approach then the usual. At first we really didn't know how this was going to turn out or if we would even be able to stick to the original plan at all. Almost two whole months later and well over 200 man hours later (no joke!) the site was complete and the finished product was just what we were looking for.
At the same time we were working out the kinks on the Vogel Sheet Metal site we put together another work of art. VogelRacing.com is by far and away our favorite website to date and it was just as fun to build as it is to browse. From the first click of the mouse we knew we had something that could be very unique. Everything just came together so fast because the design of the site was so much different from anything we have ever done in the past, we just went all out! Unlike most racing teams, Vogel Racing with drivers Christian and Grant Vogel have the choice of many different types of karts from different kart manufactures during the racing weekend. As a result we couldn't really stick with a solid color scheme. The solution came to us after just a few minutes of thinking it over both in our heads and on paper. Go neutral! The new Vogel Racing website has a basic color scheme of no color! As a result the photos stick out way more then usual and again when we reached the complete website we were forced to just take a step back and enjoy the true work of art. The release of the website couldn't come at a better time either. Vogel Racing will be in Ocala, FL this weekend for the first race of the Stars of Karting East Series. The team has been testing a lot over the past few weeks to get prepared for this big event and you can expect both boys to be at the top of the speed charts all weekend.
The most important update of the week was the fresh update of our own website WaltersWebDesign.com. Our site had gone about a year since a complete rebuild and we put everything we had into it. The old site design made it a little hard to find the information you were looking for. We put a pen to paper with the skills we gathered from the design of the Vogel Sheet Metal website and sketched a much better site map. The results are easy to see as it is now very easy to find your information, in most cases the upgrade is about half as many click or sadly even more. While the plan in the future is to use pictures to guide you thru the website this site is still at least a 200% increase from our old layout. Oh, so you noticed our new site banner looks like it stole a Red Bull from the WWD desk! Yes, that is correct Walters Web Design has stepped onto the flash market. While we are keeping it fairly simple for now we have great plans for this technology in the very near future.
