After a weekend of special events at Warrensburg’s own, Central Missouri Speedway, the weekly chase for the season championships return to the smooth high-banked clay oval surface with the ‘Mighty” Modifieds, ULMA Late Models, Street Stocks and B-Modifieds on Comfort Inn, Warrensburg Station Race Night. Racers can receive a special rate at Comfort Inn by calling (800) 221-2222. Be sure to ask for the racers rate when making your reservations.

So far this season a few familiar faces have returned to the Waterloo Storage Products Victory Lane as they battle for the checkered flag. In the modified division, Concordia driver, Jason Thompson along with Joe Walker from Harrisonville and Mark Dotson out of Cameron are the point’s leaders in this tough division of talented drivers from throughout Missouri and Kansas. Both Thompson and Dustin Boney have won an early season feature at CMS with Boney taking home the $3,000 special event feature on Memorial Day weekend.

In the ULMA Late Model division, Jason Bodenhamer from Centerview and Warrensburg driver, Jon Binning have each won ULMA features at CMS with Bodenhamer taking two in a row. They are the top two drivers in the point’s standings with Shawn Rayfield looking very strong in third. Rayfield from O’Fallon makes the 3 hour drive from his home to compete at CMS in the Late Model class.

The Street Stock division has some familiar drivers in the top two spots with Brian Johnson from Independence leading so far after two features victories this year. Right behind him is another Warrensburg driver, Chad Eickleberry with Michael Mullins out of Kingsville in third. Johnson is the 2009 track champion and seems to be the driver to beat early in the season. John Brooks from Warrensburg won the big money last weekend taking home $1,500 when he outlasted Jerry Schmidt from Independence for the victory.

The B-Modified class had been exciting again this year with several young drivers atop the standings. Dalton Kirk, the 15 year old driver out of Gardner, Kansas has found himself in the early season lead with the veteran Belton driver, Brad Smith in second and Ethan Isaacs another young driver from Bonner Springs, Kansas in third. All three drivers have a feature win this year with Kirk gaining his first-ever win at CMS a few weeks ago.

CMS pit gates will open this weekend at 4:30, grandstand admission starts at 5, hot laps at 7 and racing gets underway on the track at 7:30.
