WHEATLAND, Missouri (October 4, 2018) - With rain in the forecast today and more expected over the weekend, the 5th annual Big Buck 50 Presented by Whitetail Trophy Hunt at Lucas Oil Speedway has been cancelled.

Lucas Oil Speedway General Manager Danny Lorton said that a considerable amount of rain already has fallen at the speedway this morning with more predicted by the National Weather Service through Sunday.

"We're making the call to cancel based on the forecast," Lorton said. "As much as we hate to call the event off, we wanted to make the decision as early as possible as I know we have a lot of teams and fans who were planning to make long drives to be here."

Lorton said the race, sponsored by Whitetail Trophy Hunt, will not be rescheduled. The Warsaw Auto Marine & RV ULMA Late Models also had been on the schedule for full programs Friday and Saturday.

More information about the Whitetail Trophy Hunt can be found at whitetail.net. Nearly $5 million in prize money has been awarded in the hunt over the last 29 years. The prestigious hunt in mid-Missouri, which is limited to 230 people, has been sold out since February.

The B-Mod event, which will pay $3,000 to the feature winner on the final night, be a mixture of USRA B-Mods vs. IMCA Northern Sport Mods. USRA national points will be awarded to the USRA entrants.

The format of the weekend will be:

October 11 - Open practice from 6-9 p.m. for B-Mods and MLRA Late Models.
