World of Outlaws Roar Into Paducah International Raceway on Monday

The Advance Auto Parts World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series roars into Paducah International Raceway this Monday, July 28 for an event that was postponed by rain on May 10. The best sprint car drivers in the world will battle on the high-banked 3/8-mile for 35 laps for a $10,000 top prize. Three local divisions, Modifieds (racing for $600 to win), Street Stocks (racing for $200 to win), and the Super Cell Mini Sprints, also will be on the program

All ticket stubs and wristbands from May 10 will be honored this Monday. Plus, plenty of good seats will be available at the ticket office, which opens at 4 PM. Adult grandstand admission is $30, children 12 and under are $5. Grandstand gates open at 4. Pit passes are $35, minor releases are required. Pit gates will open at 3.

An autograph session with Donnie Schatz, Paul McMahan, and Kraig Kinser is scheduled for the HRN stage at 5:30 PM. Kerry Madsen and Jason Meyers will participate in a pre-recorded radio broadcast. Ken Schrader, a part owner of PIR, plans to be on hand for the entire event.

Qualifying begins at 6 PM, racing starts at 7:30.

Leading the way to PIR will be two-time defending series champion Donny Schatz, who has won 11 times this season and currently had a 141-point leader over Jason Meyers in the championship standings, as he chases his third consecutive series title. Meyers has won six times this season, as has Craig Dollansky who is third in points.

Other drivers with multiple wins in 2008 include: 20-time series champion Steve Kinser who has four wins, including last Friday night, along with Daryn Pittman who has won twice, along with Joey Saldana who has a pair of triumphs. Drivers in attendance that will be seeking their first win of the season include: veteran Jac Haudenschild, the track record holder at Paducah, reigning Kevin Gobrecht Rookie of the Year Kerry Madsen of Australia, Chad Kemenah, the series top rookie in 2006, Terry McCarl, the six-time Knoxville Raceway and Huset’s Speedway track champion, sophomore driver Sam Hafertepe Jr. of Texas, third generation driver Kraig Kinser, Jason Sides, the series top rookie in 2003, sophomore driver Tony Bruce Jr. of Kansas, fellow second-year driver Chad Hillier of Washington and veteran Paul McMahan.

All 17 of the full-time World of Outlaws drivers will be seeking their first win at Paducah on Monday, July 28. This season, which has been one of the most competitive in World of Outlaws history, has seen 17 drivers lead laps in A-Feature competition, with nine of those drivers picking up A-Feature wins. In time trials this season, 14 drivers have been quickest, while 18 drivers have won a Crane Cams Dash to earn a pole position.

The event will be the series fourth visit to the track and a different driver has been victorious in each of the first three visits.

NASCAR Stars Dale Earnhardt, Jr, Ken Schrader, and Promoter Bob Sargent purchased Paducah International Raceway in November of 2005. Two-time NASCAR Champion Tony Stewart joined the trio of co-owners as a partner in September of 2006. In 2008 the 3/8th mile high-banked oval hosts several high profile events including three NASCAR Nights of Stars, the World of Outlaws Sprint Cars, the USA World 50, and the Tri-Track Challenge.
