People from Ron’s Tire Center were on had as featured sponsor of the week and saw some outstanding racing.
Starting from the outside front row Worley had to follow Jarrod Hull, Sikeston, MO for the biggest part of the 25 Lap event. Hull, Two Time Midwest All Star Sprint Series Champion, would get the jump at the green. Worley, Kent Buckley, and Keith Burch followed. Hull and Worley worked traffic to their advantage, until Hull got caught behind one of the slower machines. Worley made his move to the front and held off a late race charge by Hull to win by inches. The event was contested flag to flag.
Jeremy Greenwalt, Potosi, MO, wasted little time in getting his first win of the season as he outlasted, David Shepard, DeSoto, MO for the win. Greenwalt raced to the front with Adam Parmeley, Cadet, MO, Robert Black, Bellview, MO and Shepard in tow. Three cautions slowed the feature. One on the initial start as outside front row starter Jim Black made a dart to the wall. It looked as if the steering had failed momentarily. Black did not make any contact with the wall. The problem however did work its way out. Black had to start from the rear. The drive of the night belonged to Bonne Terre, MO, driver Billy “The Kidd” Smith. He started in the 17th position and finished 3rd.
POWRi campaigner, Austin Brown, Millstadt, IL, made the most of his first visit in 2009 as he out ran last weeks winner Joe B Miller for the win. Brown and Miller ran away from the field. Distance between the two was minimal. Miller closed in the late stages of the event. He would get the nose inside of Brown coming off turn two, only to have the door shut on him. Miller stalled in the soft bottom and drew the caution.
Tight racing, fender banging and tear downs were the rule in the Pure Street Division. Dom Wadlow, Ironton, MO, and Kasey Nations, Park Hills, MO would shoot it out door to door and fender to fender for several laps. Exchanging paint on several laps the two warriors had the crowd buzzing. Lap 7 saw the battle come to an end as Wadlow was spun by Nations. Nations restarted on the tail. Wadlow would go on for the win. However, post a race tear down was invoked. Wadlow refused to tear down and was disqualified. This handed the over to Brian Blair for his first win of 2009
