MOORESVILLE, NC - The Xtreme DirtCar Series has released its working 2003 schedule that currently has 29 confirmed dates at 24 tracks in 15 states. There are also 12 open dates that series officials are still negotiating to fill in new markets for the series.
"I've only owned the series for eight days, and we've really worked hard to put this together," Xtreme DirtCar Series President Doug Bland said. "Also in recent days, we've received our air dates for the 13 SPEED Channel shows, and we are trying to schedule those events as close as we can to the SPEED Channel air dates in an effort for our fans to see the programs in a timely manner."
Of the 24 tracks on the current schedule, 14 of them will return to the schedule from last year, when the series was known as the UDTRA Pro DirtCar Series. There are seven tracks that are returning to the series schedule after a year or more absence, and there are three new tracks hosting series events for the first time.
Tracks returning from last year include East Bay Raceway in Tampa, FL, Thunder Valley Speedway in Glenmora, LA, Kankakee (IL) Motor Speedway, Dakota State Fairgrounds Speedway in Huron, SD, West Liberty (IA) Raceway, Davenport (IA) Speedway, Cedar Lake Speedway in New Richmond, WI, Muskingum County Speedway in Zanesville, OH, Raceway 7 in Conneaut, OH, Hagerstown
(MD) Speedway, 311 Motor Speedway in Madison, NC, Atomic Speedway in Knoxville, TN, Rome (GA) Speedway, and Dixie Speedway in Woodstock, GA.
Tracks returning to the series schedule after a year of more absence include Tazewell (TN) Speedway, Carolina Speedway in Gastonia, NC, Cherokee Speedway in Gaffney, SC, Wayne County Speedway in Orrville, OH, KC Raceway in Chillicothe, OH, Fayetteville (NC) Motorsports Park, and Green Valley Speedway in Glencoe, AL.
Tracks hosting Xtreme DirtCar Series events for the first time are Delta Bowl Speedway in Tunica, MS, Black Hills Motor Speedway in Rapid City, SD, and Sharon (PA) Speedway.
"In the coming weeks, we will be announcing more dates to the Xtreme DirtCar Series schedule," Bland said. "We have at least 20 more tracks in many areas of the country looking for dates, and we're trying to accommodate as many as we can that fit the criteria for both travel schedules and television requirements."
The first three events of the 2003 Xtreme DirtCar Series season will be at East Bay Raceway Park in Tampa, FL on February 4, 6, and 8.
