‘Party in Pevely’ at I-55 Raceway Falls to Freezing, Rainy Weather Outlook

I agree that the dates chosen seem to make it impossible to get 3 days without rain but on the other hand if it's in the middle of summer you have to compete against a lot of other races and events. It's a tough call but I can see why they made it even though its frustrating. Just try to remember it was the weather that ultimately cancelled the race not DIRT or I55.

Y'all should of went to Belleville last week for your fix, very good night of racing with a well prepared track.

I completely understand why it was cancelled. How many fans would show up for this race when you know most likely it will be either raining or drizzling and the temperature is down to 34 degrees? The 34 degrees alone would keep me from going.
I-55 doesn't need to start the season off with a hefty financial loss. We'll all feel real good about this decision if it can be resheduled later this summer in ideal conditions. Maybe Shrader will give a buck off of the beer price for us being so understanding about the cancellation? Yeah, right!

Too cold and wet in October and March, flooded access road would probably cancel the event in April and May, too many conflicts the rest of the summer... what's a promoter to do? Similar to snake-bitten Gateway Busch races. You could always count on high heat or big storms on whatever July date they chose.

From what I see on a ton of weather channels it was the right call. Some of you are right the weather might change but there are drvers and familys coming from far away. it's better to let them know now rather than a last min. call. I have been at the track with Ray Sunday and Monday and I acn tell you he and his crew put long hours in to get ready for this weekend. You got to be crazy in the head to think he is just playing games or don't care. Get used to it Ill put money it floods a lot this year and this is not the only race we will miss there. Make it a midseason ump points race. You can't work around other tracks and there events or you will go under trying or just forget the whole thing. This race is point proven. Just a thought

Totally agree make this a summer show its a ump event dont worry about conflicting shows. And Helms boo hoo you know how many shows i drove 4 to 6 hours to only get rained out ITS DIRT TRACK RACING IT HAPPENS !!!

turn Left it's only a thought on the midseason thing. Yes other tracks got things going on and rest ashure 1/2 of them could care less of other tracks. Double the points to get to show up then you don't haft to worry about large pay outs to draw them in. If they want the points then they will show up. There are alot of tracks that we race that race on the same night and we haft to decide what and who we want to point race with. it's part of the sport Don't be afraid to try something else. Theres no perfict answer I know of. Well guess we will do something else. THANKS FOR TRYING RAY

I couldnt agree more. Dave Murray has been saying all year starting in Jan that this year might be as big as a flood that we had in 93. There will be other tracks to go to this year. I know the price of gas at 4.00 or more that they saying is going to be a problem with the racers and fans. If you go to Highland it will cost you 20.00-30.00 round trip in gas coming from where I live and I can live with that for 1 time a month. I live about 20 or so mins from I55 so that drive wont hurt me at all. Being saying that I would more then likely go 2 times a month or more. Dont get down on Ray and DIRT for not putting on a show this weekend. I think it was the right call. JMO

I am in South County/ Jefferson county border and there is some sleet ! Heard on my way into work some guy said in the House Springs / Cedarhill area it was snow/sleeting as well ! Plus the rain we had in Arnold last night .... Not a Good Combo ! : ( I miss you Debbie ! We will see each other soon I promise ! And I have to agree they did work on this race as a race they wanted to have ! You do not put all the work and effort into something you do not plan to do ! That cost money as well !!!! 2 wekends ago I was down at the track on Saturday picking up release forms for the pits and the place was bustling with everyone working to have it ready for the Round Up ! Darn Shame Mother Nature has different plans for this race ! : (

Looks like snow to me today!
Wow looked at all the forecast and none of them are call for freezing rain or snow, rain yes but not the others. Is this how 55 will do things this year if the weatherman is calling for rain on Wednesday then will will call the races on Saturday? This is Missouri the weather forecast will change 3 more time before Friday.

I'm so thankful to the Marlers for not making me sit in the stands in this COLD> FREEZING> SNOWY> weather. I'm sure Ray saved me from having a terrible cold, sore throat, cough, and possibly pneumonia with his good decision. Thanks Ray for a great, early call.

It's still very early folks. Used to be racing season didn't start around here until the very last week of March or first week in April, and then it's still "iffy" with the weather. It will come and we'll be racing in due time. Have patience!

Guess we will head to Green Valley for the Crate Nationals. A place that actually doesn't cancel their big events...

Green Valley forcast.......Thunderstorms tonight, all day tomorrow and into Sunday (their rain date). Since (according to you) they don't cancel their big shows, are they gonna run swamp buggies or what????

Should be interesting to see if we hear from the four guys that blasted the track for calling the show early.

They are probably on the phone with each other as we speak...I'm sure the conversation starts out with "Hey Beavis, what can we whine about next hm hm hm hm"
