I will leave the motor stock just the way it was built by GM ,and just use a 2.5 Chevy truck head , I was told that the crankshaft from the 3.0 will drop right in a early 2.5 Chevy motor making it a 3.0 but then that would be increasing the stroke , and then making it a no no for a 2.5 block ...

I believe the engine is produced for Mercruiser by GM and it is based on the 2.5 chevy engine, only with a larger displacement. I will find out. They look the same.
