Shinnston, WV --- Last weekend Josh ‘Kid Rocket’ Richards, the 17-year-old dirt Late Model phenom, plied his trade on two different racing surfaces in two states. With a weekend off from the Stacker 2 World of Outlaws Late Model Series (WoO LMS) Richards made his way to Motordrome Speedway in Smithton, PA to race in their NASCAR Dodge Weekly Racing Series program on the pavement and then followed that up with his first appearance at KC Raceway’s high banked dirt oval on Saturday night.
At Motordrome Speedway on Friday May 6 for the NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series NAPA Late Models Kid Rocket drove Neil Brown’s Late Model and despite some hot and heavy action and paint being traded during the main event. An on-track altercation caused substantial front-end damage relegating Richards to an 11th place finish.
Kid Rocket returned to the dirt on Saturday night May 7 in his Mark Richards Racing-owned #1 Seubert Calf Ranches, Ace Metal Works, MCB Motorsports, Hoosier Racing Tires, Rocket Chassis, Cornett Engines Gran Prix and competed at KC Raceway for the first time where Kid Rocket stunned the crowd by setting fast time in qualifying and finishing third in the main event.
“We went to KC to get some laps in preparation for the 25th Anniversary Dirt Track World Championship coming up in October and also, being that this is the Rocket house car, we wanted to do some testing and experimenting which worked out for us,” stated Richards. “We enjoyed racing at KC and look forward to returning in October.”
Race fans can also purchase new Kid Rocket merchandise that has just been released. Among the new items available are new hats, shirts, visors and other items. The souvenir merchandise can be purchased at the races or through Kid Rocket’s website located at: www.joshrichards.com
This coming weekend Kid Rocket will return to the WoO LMS trail with events scheduled for Limaland Motorsports Park in Lima, OH on Friday May 13 and then on to Butler Battlegrounds in Quincy, MI on Saturday May 14.
