‘Racers Reunion’ to feature Missouri’s Kenny Wallace

NASCAR racer Kenny Wallace, a Missouri native, will be the special guest at the 19th Annual Ozarks Area Racers Reunion set for the afternoon and evening of January 14, 2006 at the Shrine Mosque in Springfield, MO.
The Saturday event on both levels of the Shrine Mosque includes inductions into the Ozarks Auto racing "Hall of Fame" which each year honors past drivers and others for their part in the history of area racing. This year’s legends being inducted are Ferris Collier, Kimberling City; James Kelley, Sr., Walnut Grove; Fred Tullis, Joplin; Bill Chandler, Stockton. The Pioneers include Don Swearingin, Springfield; John Skidmore, Springfield; Richard Icenhower, Fair Grove; Delmar Tindle, Springfield; Frank Stark, Strafford. Their names will be added to a monument at the Ozark Empire Fairgrounds in Springfield. Top point drivers for the 2005 racing season attending from nearby Missouri Speedways also will be recognized during a "Salute to Champions." Ceremony tracks include Monett, Bolivar, Dallas County Speedway, Springfield, I-44, and Mid Way Speedways in Lebanon.
Kenny Wallace’s racing accomplishments include nine wins and ten poles in eight seasons in the Busch Series. Kenny has over 300 starts in the NASCAR Nextel Cup Series with six top fives, 27 top tens and three poles. Kenny also co-hosts two programs for Speed Channel, NASCAR This Morning and NASCAR Victory Lane. Kenny and his family have been featured on FX’s hit show, NASCAR Drivers: 360.

Doors open at 4:00 pm, and Hall of Fame and Salute to Champions ceremonies begin at 7:00pm. Autograph tables will be set up for fans to meet this year’s inductees as well as Kenny Wallace.

Throughout the day there will be a large display of current and vintage race cars and hundreds of historic racing photos as well as numerous vendor booths.

Tickets are $15 in advance or $20 at the event; ages 12 and under, $8. A portion of the proceeds will go to the Albert Pujols Foundation.
