Chub Frank of Bear Lake,PA obliterated the field Tuesday night at Rolling Wheels Raceway in Elbridge,NY lapping all but the second and third place finishers in the World of Outlaws Stacker 2® Late Model Series sanctioned $15,000 to win “Advance Auto Parts 50”. Starting tenth aboard the Lester Buildings/Corry Rubber/All Star Performance No. 1* Chub Frank Racing Rocket Chassis/Custom Race Engines Chevrolet Monte Carlo, “Chubzilla” roared into the lead on lap 13 and never looked back taking the victory by a whopping 8.636 seconds over Rick Eckert. Fifteenth starting Jim Bernheisel rode home third as the last car on the lead lap but 24.263 seconds behind the high-flying Frank. Pole sitter Steve Francis was fourth with Dale McDowell fifth followed by Billy Moyer in sixth then 22nd starting John Blankenship, outside pole sitter Tim McCreadie, Shane Clanton and 23rd starting Josh Richards.

Frank was very happy with his third victory of the season and said it was a great week of racing for his team. “This really has been a good week for us. It started out good for us at Lernerville where we got the win and scored a fourth and fifth the last two races and been in the top five. We messed up a little bit in the heat race when we went a little bit hard on tires but the car has been good all night. It took a bunch of laps to get going in the heat race. It was a tire game in the feature. I kept looking at the track and it kept getting slicker and slicker and kept getting shineier and shineier. I just loved putting the same type of Hoosier tires on that we won at Lernerville with. They’re pretty good tires. They’re $35,000 tires!”

Second place finisher Eckert was more relieved than anything that he was able to finally shake the bad luck that has plagued the Raye Vest Excavating/J&J Steel No. 24 Raye Vest Excavating Rocket Chassis/Cornett Racing Engines Ford Taurus. “We’ve dropped out of so many races it’s almost unbelievable”, said Eckert. “The car was real good. Lapped traffic wasn’t real good to us but we got to Chub a couple of times. We got to Moyer and he took up the whole race track but that’s part of it. He didn’t know I was there and I didn’t show myself. I got to thank Raye Vest, my car owner, and my crew. Anything that could break on this thing did break on us the past couple of weeks. To finish second is like a win for us considering the way things have gone lately.”

Bernheisel, driving the WJTL Radio/Gibble Roofing No. 119 Bernheisel Racing Lazer G-2/Rhodes Performance Machine Pontiac Grand Prix, was extremely happy with his best ever showing in a WoO Stacker 2® Late Model Series main event. “The car was working great,” said Bernheisel. “We came from pretty deep in the field. My compliments to Chub. He was obviously the class of the field tonight and Rick ran great too. The Lazer was working pretty strong tonight and it was awfully good. We were off in the heat and my boys worked hard to get it right. The threw a bunch of changes at it to get it better and obviously they succeeded.”

Francis and McCreadie brought the field to the green flag but before lap one could be completed the yellow was flying as contact in the rear of the field sent the cars of Eric Jacobsen and Blankenship spinning down the long front straightway of the 5/8ths mile track. The complete restart was called back again when Brent Rhebergen lost the handle entering turn three spinning off the track. The third time at a start was the charm. McCreadie bolted into the lead at the end of the first lap followed by Francis, Tim Fuller, Clanton and Moyer. Working lap 4, McCreadie’s right wheel center section broke sending him sailing off of turn two to bring another caution. McCreadie headed pitside for a new wheel and tire returning to the race as Francis led the field down for the restart.

Another caution waved on lap 5 when contact between Dave Hess Jr. and Scott Bloomquist sent both cars careening off of turn three. Hess Jr. was done for the remainder of the race while Bloomquist headed pitside for a check-up and returned to the race before going back to green. On the restart, Francis pulled out to a three car margin as Clanton roared into second while Frank moved into sixth. Before lap 7 could be recorded the caution was back out for debris in turn three. That was the last slowdown period of the event.

Francis again crept out to a two car margin over Clanton with Frank moving into fourth and Eckert to fifth at lap 7. Frank then overhauled Fuller for third on lap 10 with Eckert now fourth followed by Fuller, Moyer in sixth then McDowell, Bernheisel, Vic Coffey and Todd Andrews. Frank then picked off Clanton exiting turn four at lap 12 for the second spot. Working lap 13 Francis, Frank, Clanton and Eckert somehow went four wide with Frank taking the point as Eckert snared third from Clanton. Lap 14 saw Eckert blow past both Clanton and Francis while Frank began to pull away.

Frank started to put cars a lap down on lap 18 extending his lead over Eckert. Behind the two front runners the racing was intense and at the halfway point Clanton sat third with Francis fourth, McDowell fifth trailed by Bernheisel Moyer, Bloomquist, Blankenship and Richards. Frank continued his torrid pace as the race remained green. Francis worked his way past Clanton for third on lap 31 with Bernheisel taking fifth from McDowell. One lap later Bernheisel was up to fourth and Bloomquist took fifth from Clanton. Bernheisel then grabbed third from Francis on lap 34.

With 15 circuits remaining Frank was long gone nearly 5 seconds in front of Eckert and nearly a half track ahead of third running Bernheisel. Bloomquist was now fourth with Francis fifth while McDowell, Moyer, Clanton, Blankenship and McCreadie rounded out the top ten. One lap later Frank put the tenth running McCreadie a lap down. Bloomquist, who’s car had been blowing smoke for several laps, worked his way past Bernheisel for the third spot on lap 38. With 10 laps to go Frank had an incredible lead on Eckert who felt no pressure from Bloomquist who was nearly a half track behind the second place runner. Bernheisel sat fourth with Francis fifth and McDowell sixth (the last car on the lead lap at this point) with Moyer, Blankenship, McCreadie and Clanton trailing.

Bloomquist’s engine finally gave up the ghost on lap 43 moving Bernheisel to the third spot. With 5 laps to go the only cars that remained on the lead lap were Frank, Eckert and Bernheisel. Frank actually pulled up on the back bumper of Bernheisel as he raced off of turn turn four to take the win.

The $69,000 purse event attracted 34 drivers to the slightly-banked 5/8ths mile speedplant with Fuller setting a new track record in time trials at 20.883 seconds for an average speed of 107.743mph. Heat race wins fell to Fuller, McCreadie, Francis, and Clanton. The “B” Mains were taken by Ed Carley and Rhebergen while Francis won the dash. Billy Decker was scheduled to start the main event tenth but suffered a lifter problem which couldn’t be corrected. Decker opted to start the main event last and pulled out after 2 laps.

Francis’ fourth place finish and Moyer’s sixth place finish tightened up the championship point chase with only seven events remaining in the 2005 season. Francis now trails Moyer by a scant 4 points heading into the August 26th event at Western Kentucky Speedway in Madisonville,KY. The cameras of SPEED Channel captured all the action and will tentatively air the “Advance Auto Parts 50” November 19th at 4:00p.m. EST.

NOTES: The first ever appearance of the WoO Stacker 2® Late Model Series to Rolling Wheels Raceway saw a good field of cars on hand. Like the night before at Lebanon Valley Speedway a big 5/8ths mile track greeted the race teams. Though not as high-banked as L.V.S., the Rolling Wheels Raceway configuration features slight-banking, shorter straightaways and more sweeping turns. Several drivers from northern Pennsylvania and eastern New York entered the $15,000 to win - $1,000 to start “Advance Auto Parts 50” event.

The drivers were faced with a choppy track in the turns during hot laps and time trials. Matt Hubbard almost got upside down on his second lap of time trials. Bill Updike had something break on his first lap in time trials and did not record a time. Shane Clanton shredded a right rear tire as he headed for the green flag to start his time trial run. Clanton received one lap at the end of the session nailing the eighth quick time. Once time trials were completed the track maintenance crew went to work to try and smooth the surface. Not surprisingly, it was two Big Block Modified drivers who sat atop the time trial order. Tim McCreadie nailed the second quick time while Tim Fuller was the fastest setting a new track record in the process. Fuller holds the DIRT Big Block Modified track record at Rolling Wheels. The last time Fuller raced at Rolling Wheels Raceway was July 4th winning the DIRT Advance Auto Parts Big Block Modified main event.

Heat # 1: Fuller and Lanigan raced side by side on the opening lap with Lanigan getting the edge at the end of the first lap. Lombardi lost the handle on lap 2 in turn four spinning to a stop. Fuller got by Lanigan on lap 3 for the lead. Richards and McDowell raced side by side until Richards car started to show smoke. Richards pulled out of the race on lap 5 with a broken power steering hose. Fuller went on for the win.

Heat # 2: McCreadie and Moyer raced side by the opening lap with McCreadie inching ahead at the end of the first circuit. McCreadie slipped in turn two while working lap 2 allowing Moyer to take the lead. However, Updike broke in turn one bringing out the caution negating Moyer’s pass for the lead. Decker and Smith had a great race going for third until Decker took the the spot despite the left front of the hood of his car flapping in the breeze. After the event, Decker’s crew found a broken lifter in the engine and scrambled to fix the problem. McCreadie pulled away from Moyer to take the win.

Heat # 3: Francis powered away from the field easily taking the win. Rhebergen, who started fourth slipped in turn 2 falling back to fifth. Hess Jr. powered past Rhebergen for the fourth spot, got by Bernheisel for third on lap 3, caught second running Andrews at lap 6 and then drove underneath of Andrews in turn two for the second spot on lap 8.

Heat # 4: Clanton led all the way with Eckert taking second from Frank in turn two on lap 2. By lap 7 the top three of Clanton, Eckert and Frank could have had a blanket thrown over them. Clanton held on for the win with Eckert taking second by less than half a car length over Frank.

“B” Main # 1: Carley jumped out front at the drop of the green with Miller settling into second. The pair would run that through the finish. Jacobsen and Stokes battled hard for the final transfer spot with Jacobsen taking the position with a move in turn two on lap 6. Jacobsen bobbled in turn two on lap 10 allowing Stokes to close but Jacobsen held him off to make the main event. Richards used the event as a test session taking a point provisional.

“B” Main # 2: Rhebergen got the lead on the green flag with Coffey coming back to lead lap 1. Hubbard spun in turn three on lap 5. On the restart third running Blankenship and fourth running Eck had contact off of turn four nearly sending both cars into the outside concrete wall. Eck took the third spot while Blankenship lost three spots. Hubbard pulled out of the race on lap 7 with damaged suspension and Blankenship dropped out on lap 8 with damage. Eck lost the third spot on lap 9 when the driveline came loose on his car dropping debris and bringing out the caution. Wonderling shot past Stone on the restart to take the final transfer spot. Rhebergen pulled even with Coffey on the white flag lap exiting turn two and pulled ahead coming in for the checkered flag. Blankenship made the event by using a point provisional.

Dash: Francis took off at the start and was never threatened. Starting fourth McCreadie shot past Clanton for third in turn two working lap 2 and then powered past Fuller for second in the same spot the next circuit.
